Job Description

Perkins&Will London is currently recruiting an Intermediate Architect with 3-5 years of experience to join our creative studio.

We are an award-winning international design firm and industry leaders in commitment to sustainable design. Our London office is established as one of the most successful design firms in the UK and Europe, delivering a wide range of professional design services including corporate interiors, strategic workplace consultancy services, new build architecture, large scare urban design and planning development and hospitality.

Key Responsibilities (but not limited to):

  • Uses enhanced knowledge of project complexity to proactively contribute to the overall success of the team by adhering to firm and project goals and standards of excellence in design, execution, and living design.
  • Develops confidence and knowledge in all aspects of the design process, while displaying increasing levels of independence.
  • Assists in generating creative and innovative design ideas, concepts and solutions while participating as an integral member of the design team.
  • Generates drawings, calculations and prepares and reviews documentation including schedules, minutes, notes and reports under supervision for all project stages.
  • Exercises critical and creative judgment and design application skills in preparing client presentation materials.
  • Completes tasks and responsibilities on projects including scheduling and budgeting in an organized, timely and consistent way.
  • Self-checks work for accuracy, omissions, legibility, and for document compliance in accordance with the Project Delivery Manual.
  • Expresses curiosity about the world of design and the industry at large.
  • Takes increasing ownership of tasks within project teams and studio activities.
  • Participates in design reviews, charettes, and pin-ups.
  • Keeps open communication within team and with designated team leader.
  • Communicates ideas and thoughts in a way that inspires others.
  • Coordinates effectively with partners and consultants.
  • Incorporates Integrated Regenerative Design solutions into projects to meet targets.
  • Represents the practice and raise its profile in a positive manner.

What We're Looking For

We are looking for someone who can demonstrate:

  • Strong architectural design and technical skills, with experience working across multiple project stages.
  • Experience developing and coordinating architectural packages.
  • A good understanding of building systems, regulations and technical principles.
  • The ability to integrate architectural, structural, environmental and building-services considerations into coordinated design solutions.
  • Confidence communicating design ideas through drawings, models, presentations and verbal communication.
  • Experience working collaboratively with clients, consultants and contractors.
  • The ability to manage defined areas of work with increasing independence.
  • A proactive, curious and collaborative approach to problem-solving.
  • An interest in sustainable, people-centred and contextually responsive design.

Software & Digital Skills

  • Revit – modelling, documentation and design coordination.
  • Rhino + Grasshopper – design development and parametric exploration.
  • Adobe Creative Suite – particularly InDesign, Photoshop and Illustrator.
  • Enscape and/or V-Ray – visualisation and presentation.
  • Microsoft Office – project coordination, reporting and presentations.
  • Environmental design tools, such as Ladybug and ClimateStudio.
  • Experience with 3D printing, laser cutting and physical model-making is welcomed.

Licensure/Certifications/Education:

  • Professional Degree in Architecture
  • LEED GA within 6 months of hire
  • Professional Accreditation in one area of Living Design that interests you: LEED AP with Specialty, BREEAM AP, WELL AP, SITES AP, CPHC/CPHE Passive House Institute Certified Passive House, or RELi AP
  • Continuing professional development per professional registrations
