Compliance Officer (12 month FTC)

We are seeking a proactive and detail-oriented Compliance Officer to provide maternity cover within our Compliance team. The successful candidate will support the delivery of Argus’ global compliance programme, with a particular focus on customer due diligence, sanctions compliance, regulatory monitoring, internal audits, and business advisory support.
This is a hands-on role requiring strong analytical skills, sound judgement, and the ability to work collaboratively with stakeholders across Sales, Conferences, Editorial, Business Systems, Legal, and senior management.
Key Responsibilities
Customer Due Diligence and Screening
- Conduct Know Your Business Partner (KYBP) and KYC reviews for customers, suppliers, speakers, sponsors, and other counterparties.
- Review corporate ownership structures and identify Ultimate Beneficial Owners (UBOs).
- Perform sanctions, adverse media, PEP, and risk screening using approved compliance systems.
- Escalate high-risk cases and provide recommendations to management.
- Maintain accurate compliance records and audit trails.
Compliance Monitoring
- Monitor sanctions alerts and ongoing screening results.
- Support investigations into potential sanctions, AML, bribery, fraud, or other compliance concerns.
- Assist with periodic reviews of existing customers and counterparties.
- Support the maintenance and continuous improvement of compliance controls and procedures.
Internal Audit and Assurance
- Assist with compliance monitoring reviews and internal audit activities.
- Track remediation actions and follow up with stakeholders.
- Gather evidence and documentation for internal and external assurance reviews.
- Support regulatory and compliance reporting requirements.
Business Advisory Support
- Provide practical compliance guidance to internal stakeholders.
- Support the review of conferences, events, speakers, sponsors, and commercial relationships from a compliance perspective.
- Respond to day-to-day compliance queries and assist with issue resolution.
- Help ensure business decisions are aligned with Company policies and regulatory requirements.
Policies, Training and Continuous Improvement
- Assist with the review and maintenance of compliance policies, procedures, and guidance materials.
- Support delivery of compliance training and awareness initiatives.
- Identify opportunities to improve screening, monitoring, and compliance processes.
- Contribute to the adoption of technology and AI-enabled tools to enhance compliance efficiency.
Skills and Experience
Essential
- Experience in Compliance, Risk, Legal, KYC/KYBP, AML, or a related field.
- Knowledge of sanctions screening and customer due diligence processes.
- Strong investigative and analytical skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and work independently.
- High attention to detail and strong organisational skills.
Desirable
- Experience using Dow Jones, RiskScreen, KYC360, Salesforce, or similar compliance platforms.
- Knowledge of international sanctions regimes.
- Experience supporting audits or assurance reviews.
- Experience within a regulated, information services, financial services, or professional services environment.
