Commercial Dispute Resolution Lawyer - Client Secondment

DWF are seeking to recruit a 3 year+ PQE England & Wales qualified lawyer with experience in commercial dispute resolution for permanent secondment to a major telecoms client of the firm in London (City area).

The successful candidate will join a medium-sized in-house legal team supporting a wider (mainly UK) business, working flexibly for a client based in the City / London with expected arrangements of 3 days per week in the office and 2 days flexible.

You would join DWF’s London disputes group and would be invited to use our offices as required, attend social events, training and participate in other firm wide activities.

Responsibilities

On a day-to-day basis the role will be interesting and varied with a friendly high performing in-house team. It will principally involve joining the in-house team and supporting them in all aspects of their work, with actual tasks depending on the issues live in the team at any given time.

The following are examples of the types of tasks that previous secondees have been involved in:

• Liaising with and instructing external lawyers and counsel in connection with new and ongoing litigation / disputes matters. Examples include: -Commercial litigation -Group actions -Matters in the CAT -Defending claims brought by individuals and businesses -Overseeing disclosure exercises
• Assisting the various departments within the business in dealing with contractual disputes (including pre-litigation advice) which may arise either prior to or during commencement of the contract.
• Assisting with internal legal ad hoc queries, liaising with the relevant teams and stakeholders to ensure that legal matters are dealt with accordingly.
• Delivering training to wider commercial and legal parts of the business.
• Managing external spend budgets.

What will help you succeed in this role?

• 3 years+ PQE, England & Wales qualified lawyer with expertise in commercial dispute resolution gained in a commercial law firm.
• Experience of English High Court litigation is required.
• Previous in-house experience is not necessary but is highly advantageous.
• Experience of mediation is highly advantageous.
• Experience in dealing with matters in the CAT is highly advantageous.
• Experience of arbitration, adjudication and other forms of ADR is advantageous.
• Enthusiastic, personable, hard-working, well presented, with a commercial outlook.
• Collaborates well as part of a medium-sized in-house team supporting a larger business.
