Tech and Data Lead
G3
Who We Are
G3 is a market-leading strategic intelligence and investigations firm headquartered in the UK. We are one of the world’s largest human source-driven intelligence companies, operating across major global financial and legal hubs. We are a high-growth company, backed by one of the leading private equity investors in business services.
G3 has operated for over two decades, with diverse and talented commercial and operational teams across six international offices. We are supported by a deep bench of senior advisers, including former leaders of the US, UK and Australian intelligence services, former chairs of global banks and former managing partners of leading law firms.
We provide intelligence to inform strategy on major corporate and private equity transactions, complex regulatory and policy matters, senior appointments, and other critical commercial decisions.
We also advise clients in contentious situations, including fraud and misconduct investigations, legal disputes and asset recovery. Our dedicated cyber team provides specialist advice and support to help clients understand and manage an evolving threat environment.
About the role
We are seeking an experienced and hands-on Technology & Data Lead to build and lead our technology function. This is a newly created role for someone who is a data engineer at heart, with meaningful experience working on applied GenAI problems. Successful candidates will have the curiosity and commercial awareness to use data, analytics, and AI to solve a broad range of commercial and operational problems.
Day to day, you will build internal applications and workflow tools, stand up data pipelines, design integrations between our core systems, and automate processes that currently take too long or rely on manual effort.
You’ll make architectural decisions, manage deployments, and own the quality of what you build. Where we work with external technical consultants, you’ll lead those relationships by setting requirements, reviewing work, and ensuring delivery.
You will also help connect our data to the people who need it by maintaining dashboards, automating reporting, and implementing AI-powered tools.
You’ll work directly with senior leadership across business development and operations, understanding their problems and building solutions that make the organisation more effective. Initially operating independently, you will have autonomy to shape our technology stack, architecture, and ways of working as the function grows.
This role will suit someone who naturally gravitates toward solving business problems with data and technology, and who takes pride in building things that work.
What you’ll be responsible for
Internal Tools & Platform Engineering
- Designing and building internal applications, workflow tools, and automation that help the team work more efficiently
- Owning the architecture of our internal technology platform – integrations between core systems, APIs, and supporting infrastructure
- Managing CI/CD pipelines, deployment infrastructure, and the overall reliability of our systems
- Leading technical relationships with external consultants and vendors
Data Infrastructure & Analytics
- Building and maintaining data pipelines and ETL processes that feed analytics, reporting, and AI use cases
- Ensuring data quality, structure, and documentation across the organisation’s core systems
- Maintaining dashboards and reporting tools that give senior stakeholders clear visibility of commercial and operational performance
AI & Automation
- Identifying practical opportunities to integrate AI and automation into operational workflows
- Building AI-powered tools that support the team’s core work
- Staying current with developments in AI and evaluating new capabilities against business needs
What we’re looking for
Technical
- Comfortable working across the full stack – from front-end interfaces to back-end services and databases
- Strong programming skills in Python and SQL, with experience building internal tools and automating workflows
- Solid understanding of API design, cloud infrastructure, and deployment practices
- Experience with data engineering – ETL pipelines, data modelling, and platforms like Fabric
- Hands-on experience building dashboards and reports using tools like Power BI
- Practical experience integrating AI/ML capabilities into applications (e.g. working with LLM APIs, building retrieval-augmented systems, or similar)
- Experience working with large volumes of unstructured data, including extracting, structuring, and safeguarding sensitive information
- Interest in graph data modelling and network analysis, including developing searchable tools that map and visualise complex relationship networks
- Enthusiasm for learning and staying current with a fast-moving technology landscape
Strategic & Commercial
- Experience working in or building technology for professional services, advisory, or insight-driven businesses
- Ability to bridge technical and commercial conversations – advising senior stakeholders on technology decisions while grounding recommendations in practical delivery
Leadership & Approach
- Comfortable with end-to-end ownership in an environment where business needs are evolving
- Enthusiasm for building new processes and systems from scratch – blending hands-on development with strategic leadership
- Strong communicator who can operate credibly across technical and non-technical audiences
What we offer
- Compensation including bonus: competitive, based on experience
- Equity in business: Competitive
- Flexible working balance of home and office
- Stakeholder pension contribution of 5%
- Private medical insurance including generous terms of cover for both medical hospital, dental and mental health support for you, your partner and children (subject to T&Cs of the policy).
