This role will be based in London, UK and you are required to have the necessary right to work details prior to application.
The Syndicate Reporting Accountant works as part of the External Reporting team, with responsibility for completion of all aspects of external financial reporting for the Hartford International’s business units.
Job Responsibilities
- As part of the UK External Reporting team share responsibility for all statutory and regulatory reporting for the International entities of The Hartford.
- Core reporting responsibilities include the quarterly and annual reporting to Lloyd’s (QMA, QMB, QSR, Solvency UK, Trust Fund reporting etc.), quarterly and annual reporting to the PRA in respect of the Hartford’s third-country UK branch and annual statutory reporting for eight legal entities, including the group’s Hong Kong service company and Singapore service company.
- Working with the wider team ensuring audit team deliverables have been provided on a timely and accurate basis and that the audit team are assisted with queries in a timely manner.
- Produce and enhance analytical supporting schedules for the key regulatory returns to aid senior manager review and understanding.
- Work closely with key stakeholders outside of the External Reporting Team (Actuarial, Risk, Claims, Ceded Re and other Finance teams) to ensure the delivery of information relevant to the various external reporting returns.
- Work closely with other Finance team functions, both in the UK and within the US Group to ensure the accuracy of the various regulatory submissions and any system or process changes have adequately considered the impact on regulatory reporting.
- Leverage technology solutions and process improvement practices to enhance the efficiency of the team’s reporting responsibilities.

Qualifications & Capabilities
- Part-qualified Accountant (ACA / ACCA / CIMA)
- Technical Insurance accounting background and understanding of the Lloyd’s regulatory reporting requirements.
- Strong technical system ability (General Ledger, TM1 or equivalent, Microsoft Excel)
- Ability to develop and sustain relationships with internal and external customers.
- Ability to prioritise and organise workload.
- Effective communication skills at all levels.
- Attention to detail
- Team player with ability to work on a stand-alone basis
- Flexible
- Experience of identifying and implementing better processes
