About the Role

The Strategy Associate works directly with the CEO to help shape InvestEngine's strategy. You'll do the thinking and research behind our strategic decisions — understanding the market and our competitors, forming a view on how InvestEngine should position itself, building the case for where we should go next — including how we monetise to reach profitability — and helping communicate that strategy clearly to investors and across the company.

This is not an execution or delivery role — your focus is on strategy: analysing, forming a point of view, and packaging it so the CEO, the board, and the wider team can act on it. It's also a role to grow in: a chance to build deep strategy skills working directly with the CEO, ideal for an ambitious early-career person who wants to become a senior leader over time.

What You’ll Do

• Help drive commercial growth — this is the core of the role: help drive the commercial growth of the business through a cohesive marketing, product, and monetisation strategy that moves us towards profitability.
• Analyse the market and competitors — research the UK/European investing landscape, track competitors, and turn what you find into a clear view of where the opportunities and threats are.
• Build investor decks — conceptualise and create high-quality decks and materials that present our strategy and story to investors and the board.
• Help communicate vision and strategy internally — work with the CEO to articulate the strategy clearly so the Exec and wider team understand the direction and the reasoning behind it.
• Think creatively — bring fresh ideas, framings, and angles to the strategic questions facing the business.
• Lead research and thought leadership — conceptualise and lead research projects, and prepare talking points and materials for engagements with media, policymakers, clients, and industry participants.

Must-haves

• Deep knowledge of the UK/European investment market, and strong views on how a business like ours should position itself and where the opportunities are.
• Strong analytical mind — you can research a topic deeply, make sense of the market, and form a clear, well-reasoned point of view.
• Excellent written and verbal communication — you can build a compelling investor deck and get your ideas across to senior and external audiences.
• Genuine creativity — you generate original ideas and framings, not just summaries.
• Hungry to learn and grow — ambitious, self-aware about where you want to develop, and eager to build your strategy skills.
• A high-trust, low-ego attitude, and discretion with sensitive information.
• Knowledge of UK/European retail investing, index products, or fintech.
• A track record of research or content that reached external audiences (e.g. published or syndicated pieces).
• Client-facing or industry experience that gives you a grounded view of investors and customers.
