** Background – The School of Policy and Global Affairs was established in 2022 and encompasses our Economics, International Politics and Sociology and Criminology Departments. Located in one of the world's greatest financial and political centres, we engage with the key challenges and debates that are shaping policy formation in a rapidly changing world. The Senior Student Engagement Officer provides leadership and accountability for student engagement and visa compliance activity within the School, with a focus on improving continuation, progression, attainment, and retention.

** Responsibilities – The role is responsible for designing, implementing, and evaluating the School’s approach to student engagement and attendance usually in collaboration with the Associate Dean (Student Experience), Academic Standards & Student Experience Manager, and central Student Success team ensuring that effective frameworks are in place to identify and intervene where students are at risk of disengagement or non-progression. The role also takes responsibility for School-based support of students requiring reasonable adjustments.

** Person Specification – Candidates should have a good understanding of student engagement, continuation and retention in an HEI context, as well as experience of working in this area, ideally including visa compliance. They will understand the regulatory environment in which HEIs operate. They will have strong IT skills and be able to use these to design effective intervention systems, as well as taking an evidence-led approach to evaluating impacts. They will show commitment to tackling issues of educational disadvantage, and work effectively with senior academic leaders in this area.
