Senior Manager, International Communications (Contract)

The Role
This role is a maternity leave cover for the existing Senior Manager, International Communications for approximately one year. In this role you will drive forward global communications strategies that build brand awareness, shape our narrative, and drive engagement in key international markets outside of the Americas. This role requires a dynamic and established leader with deep experience in managing communications across diverse geographies and cultures. You will work closely with the marketing and retail teams, as well as product, science, and senior leadership, to ensure consistent, localized messaging and storytelling that resonates with Oura's growing global community.
Key Responsibilities
- Strategic Communications Leadership
- Drive forward Oura’s international communications strategy, ensuring alignment with global brand objectives and regional market needs.
- Collaborate with regional teams to tailor messaging and campaigns that resonate with local audiences while maintaining a consistent global brand voice.
- Oversee the development of localized content and storytelling, ensuring it is culturally relevant and speaks to the health, wellness, and lifestyle trends in each market.
- Monitor market trends and media landscapes in key regions to identify opportunities for proactive communications and brand elevation.
- Champion Oura’s brand narrative and ensure it is effectively communicated across all international channels, including digital media, traditional PR, influencer partnerships, and events.
- Stakeholder & Media Relations
- Maintain strong relationships with key media outlets, influencers, and thought leaders across multiple regions, driving earned media coverage and positive brand sentiment.
- Collaborate with external agencies and consultants to amplify Oura’s message and increase media presence in new and existing markets.
- Manage regional executive media training, preparing Oura leaders for high-profile interviews, speaking engagements, and public appearances.
- Act as the point of contact for all international PR, international crisis communications, and international media relations inquiries.
- Agency Management
- Oversee and manage relationships with external PR agencies in Tier 1 markets across multiple regions, ensuring alignment with global brand strategy, consistency in messaging, and the execution of high-impact media campaigns.
- Manage PR agency budgets, ensuring efficient allocation of resources, cost control, and the delivery of campaigns within financial parameters.
- Cross-functional Collaboration
- Partner with product, marketing, retail, member experience, and sales teams to ensure consistent messaging across all touchpoints in international markets.
- Work closely with the global marketing team to ensure communications efforts align with product launches, promotions, and other key initiatives.
- Collaborate with local teams to coordinate regional events, sponsorships, and influencer activations that promote Oura’s mission and vision.
- Measurement & Reporting
- Define and track key performance indicators (KPIs) for international communications efforts, regularly reporting on the effectiveness and impact of campaigns.
- Use data-driven insights to continuously optimize communications strategies, ensuring alignment with business goals and regional growth targets.
Desired Skills & Experience
- 10+ years of experience in communications, public relations, or corporate communications, with a proven track record of managing international or global communication strategies.
- Strong understanding of international markets, cultural nuances, and global media landscapes, with experience working across EMEA, and APAC.
- Exceptional written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills, with the ability to craft compelling narratives and adapt messaging for different audiences.
- Experience working in the tech, health, or consumer lifestyle sectors is a plus.
- Strong leadership skills with the ability to inspire and motivate and drive collaboration across cross-functional teams.
- Experience managing a small but high functioning team that moves fast.
- Ability to think strategically while also being hands-on in executing high-impact initiatives.
- Fluency in multiple languages is a plus but not required.
- Strong project management skills with the ability to balance multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
