Location: London or Whiteley/Southampton
Function: WPS UK
Reporting to: Head of Investment Product Management
The opportunity
We’re looking for an experienced product leader to manage the full lifecycle of Capital Markets and Ultra Solutions Group (USG) products across the client continuum.
This is a senior, high-impact role at the intersection of product management, front office, risk and governance. You’ll help shape and deliver the product strategy for Wealth and Personal Banking, ensuring our product shelf remains relevant, compliant and aligned to client needs and business priorities.
You’ll work across structured products, equities, fixed income and other investment-led solutions, while supporting the development of new propositions and markets. This includes helping establish approaches for emerging initiatives
The role requires someone who can operate confidently in a complex, highly connected environment—bringing sound judgement, strong governance expertise and the ability to engage constructively with challenging stakeholders.
Key responsibilities
- Lead the strategy, development, governance and lifecycle management of Capital Markets and USG products in the UK.
- Manage product proposals, launches, reviews and post-implementation reviews, ensuring alignment with customer needs, risk appetite, profitability and relevant policies.
- Oversee the product shelf across structured products, equities, fixed income and related investment solutions.
- Identify product gaps, market opportunities and changing customer needs through regular market analysis.
- Work closely with Product Owners, Distribution, Front Office, Legal, Compliance, Finance, Treasury, Marketing, Operations, Technology, Risk and other stakeholders.
- Act as an effective bridge between front office ambition and the practical requirements of governance, regulation, controls and delivery.
- Interpret and apply UK, Group, regional and cross-jurisdictional requirements, including where policy or procedure needs to be developed or adapted.
- Support the delivery of revenue, assets under management and financial resource plan objectives through effective product management.
- Drive projects responding to market developments, strategic priorities and new client opportunities.
- Maintain strong relationships with external providers, vendors, third-party managers and relevant regulators.
- Contribute to governance forums, including the Wealth Product Risk Oversight Meeting, Discretionary Oversight Committee and Wealth Assets Forum.
- Promote a client-centric, collaborative and high-performance culture.
Essential Requirements
- Significant experience in product governance and product development within capital markets, investment products, wealth management or private banking.
- Strong technical knowledge of capital markets products, including:
- Structured products
- Equities
- Fixed income
- Other investment-led or ultra solutions
- Experience managing products through the full product lifecycle, including design, approval, launch, ongoing oversight, review and remediation where required.
- A strong understanding of regulatory, risk, control and governance requirements affecting investment products and wealth or private banking.
- The ability to operate as a credible partner to front office, sales and distribution teams, while maintaining appropriate governance and control standards.
- Proven experience influencing and managing a complex senior stakeholder network across multiple functions, business areas and jurisdictions.
- The judgement and confidence to make decisions in situations where there may be limited existing procedures or precedent.
- A self-starting, practical approach, with the ability to identify what needs to be done and drive delivery without relying on a detailed procedure manual.
- Strong communication, negotiation and relationship-management skills, including the resilience to work effectively with demanding or challenging stakeholders.
- Experience leading complex product, regulatory or business-change initiatives from concept through to implementation.
- The ability to balance customer outcomes, commercial objectives, regulatory obligations and risk considerations.
Desirable experience
- Experience in wealth management, private banking, investment management or a similar regulated financial-services environment.
- Experience working across multiple jurisdictions or legal entities.
- Knowledge of suitability, sales and distribution processes for wealth or private banking clients.
- Experience developing or launching products for new markets or client segments.
- Experience managing or developing product-management professionals.
