Beyond delivering software, you will act as an Engineering Community Lead - a force multiplier across the wider organization. You will drive our Engineering Community pillars of Career Development, Culture, Team Operational Model, and Collaboration, helping raise the bar on how we hire, grow, share knowledge, and set technical standards across org wider organization.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Develop secure code so that our customers and ourselves are protected from malicious actors.
  • Promptly investigate and fix issues and ensure they do not resurface in the future.
  • Support the products you've built through their entire lifecycle, including in production and during incident management.
  • Champion a healthy, inclusive engineering culture helping teams create, embed, and track action plans that measurably improve team and engineering productivity.
  • Contribute to the review and evolution of the engineering career ladders, define IC expectations and responsibilities
  • Drive improvements to job descriptions, interview processes, and assessment rubrics; help build interview guidelines, technical question banks, and exercise templates that raise hiring quality and fairness.
  • Establish and sustain communities of practice (guilds / chapters) and office-hour sessions that operate across our wider organization, creating forums for engineers to share knowledge and solve problems together.
  • Contribute to the operational model for shared code and reusable frameworks including scope, ownership and governance, reducing duplication and raising quality across teams.
  • Help shape location and team strategy, engineering responsibility guidelines (e.g., on-call / production support, security ownership), and sustainable operating models that minimize support overhead while keeping systems reliable.

Required qualifications, capabilities and skills:

  • Recent hands-on professional experience as a back-end software engineer.
  • Experience in coding in a recent version of the Java programming language.
  • Experience in designing and implementing effective tests (unit, component, integration, end-to-end, performance, etc.).
  • Experience with cloud technologies and distributed systems, RESTful APIs and web technologies.

  • Seasoned with operating, supporting and the security of mission-critical software applications.
  • Understanding of different kinds of data stores (including relational data stores).
  • Proven ability to coach other team members on coding practices, design principles, and implementation patterns that lead to high-quality, maintainable solutions.
  • Ability to manage stakeholders and effectively prioritize work across multiple work streams.
  • Demonstrated leadership beyond your own team - for example leading a guild, chapter, community of practice, or a cross-cutting engineering initiative (standards, hiring, onboarding, or culture).
  • Strong facilitation, influencing, and communication skills, with the ability to drive change and build consensus across distributed teams without relying on direct authority.

Preferred qualifications, capabilities & skills:

  • Experience in working in a highly regulated environment / industry.
  • Seasoned with cloud-native microservices architecture.
  • Proficient with AWS cloud technologies.
  • Experience developing engineering career frameworks, interview/hiring processes, or technical standards at an organizational level.
