Senior Environment & Sustainability Advisor

London Heathrow (LHR) is the main international airport serving London. It is the largest of the six international airports in the London airport system. The airport is owned and operated by Heathrow Airport Holdings and in 2021, it was the seventh-busiest airport in the world by international passenger traffic and eighth busiest in Europe by total passenger traffic.

Costain have partnered with Heathrow Airport to deliver its investment programme, which will provide a step-change in the customer experience and transform the airport on its journey to become a net-zero aviation hub. As a delivery partner, we currently work with Heathrow throughout the project lifecycle to shape, create and deliver asset renewal and construction projects procured through the Terminal Asset Renewal Partner and Major Project Partner lots of the H7 framework.

To support the Contract E&S functions, provide, and support / drive Environmental and Sustainability (E&S) solutions and enable the Contract / Operational Teams to implement the SHE & Sustainability management systems Management System.

To build and maintain relationships with all stakeholders, whilst providing an independent and objective view of E&S Performance on the Contract.

The role centres around delivering E&S of the framework, but will work closely, collaboratively and provide support where necessary with the Health and Safety function, collectively known as the SHE Team.

Key tasks will involve:

• On site support
• Running sustainable workshops with all stakeholders for delivery of sustainable outcomes
• Liasing with client, supply chain, and contract teams to achieve E&S outcomes
• Implementation of the E&S management system across the framework

Support in pre-mobilisation ensuring necessary environment assessments and risk reduction have been undertaken
