About InvestEngine

InvestEngine is everything the modern investor should need. Unbeatable value, market-leading automation, and built for easy, long-term investing. We've built a strong foundation, have over £3 billion invested, award-winning service, and a passionate team — now we're ready to scale.

About the Role

We're looking for a Senior Employee Relations Specialist to join our People & Talent team on a focused 6-month fixed-term basis. As we grow, we want our approach to employee relations to be as clear, fair and consistent as everything else we build — so people always know where they stand, and managers always know how to do the right thing.

This is a build-and-enable role. You'll design the frameworks, policies and manager toolkits that make good people practice easy and predictable across the company, coach managers so everyday conversations happen early and well, and be a trusted, impartial point of support for both employees and managers when something needs working through.

It's deliberately senior and time-boxed: we want experienced judgement to set the foundations properly, so the capability stays with our managers and People team long after the six months are up.

This role is ideal for someone who's pragmatic, warm and commercially minded, and who enjoys building from a blank page rather than inheriting a large HR machine. You'll work closely with the People team, managers and senior leadership, with real autonomy to own employee relations end to end. This role is fully remote.

What You’ll Do

  • Build and embed our core employee relations framework: clear policies, manager playbooks, templates and decision guides across performance, conduct, grievance, absence and family leave
  • Review our people policies end to end and make them genuinely useful — updating them, adding supporting resources and manager guidance, and communicating changes well
  • Coach and enable managers so everyday conversations happen early, constructively and with confidence
  • Design and run practical manager training and workshops on feedback, wellbeing, absence, family leave and having supportive conversations
  • Act as an impartial, trusted adviser to employees and managers alike, helping resolve questions and concerns fairly and consistently
  • Support the full range of employee relations matters with care and confidentiality
  • Bring structure and consistency to how we record and handle people matters, so everyone is treated to the same standard
  • Use insight from themes and trends to prevent issues recurring and to improve the employee experience
  • Use AI tools to speed up drafting, research and policy work — pragmatically, and always within confidentiality limits

What We’re Looking For

  • Deep, hands-on employee relations experience, owning a range of people matters end to end and independently
  • Strong practical command of UK employment law and the ACAS Code
  • A calm, human approach to sensitive conversations, staying impartial and credible with employees and managers alike, and helping resolve things early and informally wherever possible
  • Excellent written work — clear, fair, well-structured documentation and communications
  • Track record of coaching managers and building their confidence through playbooks, training and in-the-moment support
  • Clear, human policy writing, and the discipline to use themes and insight to improve things rather than repeat them
  • Experience building in a lean environment without an ER centre of excellence or in-house legal team — comfortable with pace, ambiguity and a blank page
  • Sound judgement and impeccable handling of confidential information

Nice to Have

  • Background in fintech, financial services or high-growth scale-ups
  • Experience in an FCA-regulated (or similarly regulated) environment
  • Comfort living in workflow tools — building trackers, templates and automations rather than working through Word docs and email chains
  • Experience applying AI to ER drafting, case summarisation or policy research

How We Work

We're a ~180-person, AI-first fintech and a lean, fast-moving team that values clarity, ownership and transparency. You'll have the freedom to experiment, the responsibility to follow through, and the backing of a team that values clear thinking and open dialogue. We believe in solving problems at the root, not just treating the symptoms.

What We Offer

Impact from day one

A clearly defined 6-month mandate with visible impact on fairness, consistency and manager capability across the business.

Real ownership

This is the senior employee relations voice at InvestEngine. You'll shape the approach, build the frameworks, and leave behind something that lasts.

Transparent and open culture

We share decisions openly, keep communication channels clear, and encourage collaboration across every part of the business.

Supportive, high-calibre team

Work alongside talented professionals who are experts in their fields — smart, driven, and generous with their knowledge.

Remote and flexible

Fully remote. We focus on results, not rigid hours, and trust you to manage your time effectively.

Our Hiring Process

  • Introductory call with our Talent team
  • Skills interview — a deep dive into your experience, including a difficult-conversation and a manager-coaching scenario
  • Gamified cognitive assessment to understand how you think and problem-solve
  • Final interview with the hiring manager — working through real examples end to end, and alignment with our culture and values
