About the Opportunity
Sales Assistant to Senior Partner
David Zwirner seeks a full-time Sales Assistant to work alongside one of the gallery's Senior Partners. The Sales Assistant will fulfill administrative assistant duties as well as liaise with curators, artists, and clients for the Senior Partner.
Superior writing skills, the ability to time manage and meet deadlines, and a thorough working knowledge of contemporary art are required. This position will involve significant contact with artists and long time clients and other art industry professionals therefore discretion and poise are essential. This position may be scheduled Mondays - Fridays or Tuesdays - Saturdays depending on gallery needs.
Candidates must be diligent, extremely organized, and possess excellent time management and communication skills.
What you’ll do:
Support Senior Partner with roster of artists:
- Assist with general artist management of artists’ studios and estates, with exhibitions, requests, press, image requests, general studio requests, events, appraisals and artist care.
- Monitor all artists’ solo/group exhibitions, both domestic and international, manage checklists and loans.
- Support with gallery exhibition planning globally.
- Liaise with other gallery staff regarding all aspects of inventory & exhibition management: production, shipping, framing, photography, research, etc.
- Create and manage client lists for exhibition previews/dinners, support Director during openings.
Provide broad sales support to Senior Partner:
- Manage Senior Partner's sales, help create sales offers, coordinate and prepare for client viewings and prepare insurance appraisals.
- Conduct post-sale tasks including preparing invoices and coordinating shipping.
- Manage the Senior Partner's secondary market consignments, prepare consignment and contract agreements; liaise with clients on cataloging and research materials, and create presentations for client offers and significant works.
- Work across departments to ensure secondary market artworks have photography, provenance and all other relevant documentation.
Provide all administrative support including:
- Daily management of Senior Partner’s calendar, agendas, to-do list and help set daily priorities and goals. Prepare travel arrangements, itineraries, appointments and expenses.
- Responsible for organising the Senior Partner's inbox, and staying on top of all communication requests.
- Liaise frequently with multiple departments within the gallery to oversee projects such as exhibition and art fair booth models, gallery exhibition checklists, online viewing rooms, sales previews, and press packets, among others.
What we would like you to have:
- 2-3 years in an assistant or administrative support role at a gallery.
- Experience supporting senior leadership with calendar management and travel itinerary.
- Detail oriented with experience in managing upwards.
- Strong multi-tasking skills with the ability to prioritize and anticipate needs as well as organisational skills.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to work cross-departmentally.
- Strong interest in sales.
- Passion for and knowledge of contemporary art.
