The Opportunity

As our Responsible AI Specialist, you'll play a key role in helping EDF adopt and scale AI safely, ethically and effectively. Working within our AI and Automation Centre of Excellence, you'll help define the frameworks, controls and guidance that enable teams to innovate with confidence while managing risk appropriately. You'll support EDF's journey towards An Electric Britain by helping ensure AI solutions are deployed responsibly across the business.

You'll join us on a salary starting from £46,000 per annum, with the potential for an annual bonus. This is a highly flexible role with the freedom to work from a location that suits you, alongside occasional travel as required to EDF sites and offices across the UK.

You'll work alongside specialists across AI, Legal, Risk, Security, Data Protection, Architecture and Procurement. This is an exciting opportunity to develop expertise in one of the fastest-evolving areas of technology, gaining exposure to emerging AI capabilities, evolving regulation and enterprise-wide transformation programmes. You'll help shape how EDF approaches Responsible AI while building relationships across a diverse range of teams and stakeholders.

Who You Are

We're looking for a Responsible AI Specialist who combines governance and risk expertise with practical knowledge of AI and emerging technologies. You'll be comfortable translating complex requirements into clear, actionable guidance and working with a wide range of stakeholders across the business. To be shortlisted, you need to offer:

  • Experience in governance, risk, compliance, data protection, security, technology assurance, Responsible AI or related disciplines within a complex organisation
  • Strong understanding of Responsible AI principles and the ability to define proportionate controls and risk-based approaches
  • Experience interpreting policy, regulatory requirements and industry guidance and translating them into practical business outcomes
  • Practical understanding of AI technologies, including model behaviour, data, evaluation, monitoring and deployment considerations
  • Experience engaging and influencing stakeholders across business, technology and control functions
  • Experience embedding governance and controls throughout the lifecycle of technology solutions
  • An interest in emerging AI technologies, regulation and industry developments, with the ability to assess potential impacts and opportunities

What You'll Be Doing

  • Defining and continuously improving EDF's Responsible AI framework, control library and risk classification approach
  • Supporting the review of higher-risk, novel, sensitive and third-party AI use cases, providing practical recommendations that enable innovation while managing risk appropriately
  • Translating policy, governance and regulatory requirements into clear controls, guidance and ways of working for delivery teams
  • Monitoring developments in AI regulation, industry standards and emerging technologies, helping EDF understand potential risks, opportunities and implications
  • Contributing to the ongoing development of Responsible AI policies, standards and guidance as the technology and regulatory landscape evolves
  • Working with business, technology and control functions to embed Responsible AI principles throughout the AI lifecycle
  • Helping build awareness and understanding of Responsible AI across the organisation through engagement, guidance and knowledge sharing

Pay, Benefits and Culture
