About the role

As Repetiteur – Special Projects you will play a key role in English National Ballet’s Artistic team, with a particular focus on rehearsing and staging the My First productions, and also rehearsing and staging group scenes in full length productions. You will support the dancers with teaching the choreography and providing pastoral care to the English National Ballet School (ENBS) dancers. You will have responsibility for the Special Projects portfolio and work on allocated productions and choreography, class and rehearsals.

Your main responsibilities as Repetiteur – Special Projects will include:

• Rehearsing and staging the My First productions, including teaching the choreography to all casts and covers, and for all regional touring.
• Supporting all safeguarding requirements while working with younger dancers.
• Develop and hone the in-depth skills and knowledge to work across the allocated portfolio of artistic work; this may include taking class, taking or leading rehearsals either in the studio or in production, working with choreographers, and monitoring performances.
• Monitor individual dancers’ professional standards in rehearsal and performance, providing regular feedback and guidance as appropriate, depending on venue and setting.
• Lead by example and uphold the ENB values and principles of Equality, Diversity and Inclusion, respect, and dignity at work in all aspects of the role.
• Assist with the effective management of the designated dancers so that a high level of professional excellence and morale is maintained.
• Keep up to date with all allocated work in the season programme, including the artistic vision, upcoming schedules, casting for upcoming productions, rehearsals and performances.
• Develop strong working relationships with all key stakeholders, including ENBS, other departments and visiting creatives.

Key Selection Criteria

• Substantial experience of working with a leading professional ballet company and with dancers at all levels; this may be gained either with the company or as a guest.
• Ability to rehearse and stage productions with a number of casts.
• A good track record in teaching a varied repertoire including large scale classical productions.
• Ability to operate effectively within a touring company, with an understanding of planning and lead times for rehearsing.
• Strong relationship building skills to support pastoral care of dancers.
