You will be a key member of bid teams, facilitating bid win strategies and leading the writing team to produce high-scoring proposals and presentations. You will be equally happy managing proposals or working as part of a larger bid team, writing high-scoring tender responses for energy clients.

The purpose of this position is to:

  • Lead the production of high-scoring, compliant PQQ and tender proposals for energy infrastructure projects and framework bids, or act as a senior writer in energy bids led by others.
  • Complete high-scoring PQQ and tender proposal responses.
  • Line manage other proposals professionals within the Energy sector.
  • In collaboration with the Infrastructure Proposals team, champion a high standard of proposal management and writing in the energy sector and consistently deliver this.

Your team

  • This is a predominantly home-based role, with 1–2 days spent in Central London or Wellingborough during key stages of the tender process.

Making Possible

Manage the development of bid proposals and other work-winning submissions for energy sector clients, following BAM guidelines and APMP principles:

  • Lead the writing team to deliver high-scoring, compliant responses on time while developing and delivering tender responses allocated to you.

  • Organise, facilitate and/or present at collaborative bid meetings and workshops needed to develop the proposal.

  • Define proposal deliverables and create the proposals development process and programme, including any pre-bid stage.
  • Advise the Sector Preconstruction Lead for Energy on writing resource demands, progress and barriers to successful completion.
  • Lead the proposal review programme and brief writers on review comments.
  • Liaise with graphic designers on graphics and format requirements.
  • Finalise tender responses by bid programme deadlines and collaborate with the bid team on upload.
  • Lead any post-bid lessons learned exercise, focusing on the proposals element.

Act as senior writer on bids led by others

  • Comply with the proposal development process and programme defined by the lead writer/proposals manager, including any pre-bid stage.

Line management

  • Line manage, coach and allocate work to proposals professionals within the Energy team as required. Ensure that writing work is delivered to the right quality and on time.
  • In collaboration with the Infrastructure Proposals team, identify development opportunities for the people you line manage.

Understand BAM’s offer

  • Understand what differentiates BAM. Keep up-to-date with developments and innovations across the company and integrate the latest thinking into tender responses.

Contribute to knowledge management

  • Promote the importance of knowledge management within the Energy function, liaising with the central knowledge management team as needed.
  • Complete project, framework or business/ function case studies as requested. This may require site visits and visits to other offices.

Other duties

  • Brief the Head of Infrastructure Proposals on lessons learned post-bid and from client feedback.
  • Attend meetings and workshops led by the Infrastructure Proposals team as requested. This may include regular writing resource planning meetings.
  • Complete other ad hoc requests from within the Energy team.
  • This could include writing award submissions, value propositions and supporting client presentations.

What do you bring to the role?

  • We would like to recruit a proposals manager writer who can step straight into complex bid environments.
  • You will have demonstrated your ability to successfully manage complex, multidisciplinary proposals and produce high-scoring tender responses for major infrastructure clients.
  • The role requires an open and adaptable approach to developing solutions, together with excellent communication and collaboration skills.
  • We need people who can distil the most complex engineering concepts into plain English in a logical way with our customers in mind.
