The role

As a Project Controller, you will support Project Managers with project cost control, budgeting, forecasting and financial reporting. You will maintain accurate project data within SAP, including budgets, actual costs, commitments, purchase orders, invoices and forecast expenditure.

You will contribute to projects across MAG’s Investment Plan by producing reliable cost reports and cash-flow forecasts, analysing financial performance and supporting effective project governance. You will also help ensure that contractual changes, including NEC compensation events, are accurately reflected within project budgets and forecasts.

What will make you successful in this role?

  • A minimum of three years’ experience in project controls, cost control, project accounting, commercial management or a similar project environment.
  • Strong knowledge of project budgeting, forecasting, actual costs, commitments, accruals and variance analysis.
  • Experience supporting Project Managers with the preparation and review of project cost forecasts.
  • Experience managing or reviewing purchase orders, invoices and project commitments.
  • Knowledge and practical experience of SAP or a comparable enterprise financial system.
  • Understanding of NEC contracts, including compensation events, early warnings, payment applications and the financial impact of contractual changes.
  • Experience producing project cost reports, cash-flow forecasts and clear variance commentary.
  • Strong Excel and analytical skills, with the ability to identify cost pressures, financial risks and data inconsistencies.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with Project Managers, finance, procurement, commercial teams and other project stakeholders.
  • Knowledge of project governance, financial controls and maintaining appropriate supporting information and audit trails.
  • Experience working on capital investment, infrastructure, construction or engineering projects is desirable.
  • Working knowledge of Primavera P6, including the ability to interpret project schedules and align cost forecasts with planned delivery, would be an advantage.
