About us

In Camden we are committed to working together to make our borough the best place to live, work, study, and visit. Partnership with our communities is central to the way we work, so that everyone can access opportunities, and nobody gets left behind. Here’s where you can help decide a better future for us all.

The role

As a Planning Technician, you will play a key role in delivering a responsive, high-performing and customer-focused Development Management Service. You will be responsible for validating, assessing and determining straightforward planning applications and appeals.

You will also work as part of a team of Technical Officers where you will provide essential technical and administrative support across the service. Your duties will include logging and directing planning-related correspondence, responding to customer enquiries, registering planning and tree applications, processing enforcement cases, managing shared mailboxes and administering appeals. You will also support wider service improvements and contribute to maintaining high standards of accuracy, efficiency and customer service.

This is an excellent opportunity for someone with strong organisational skills, attention to detail and a commitment to delivering excellent customer service. If you enjoy working in a fast-paced environment and want to make a positive contribution to shaping and supporting Camden's communities, we'd love to hear from you.

About you

We are looking for someone with strong organisational skills, attention to detail and a commitment to customer care and a clear understanding of the role of local government in delivering high-quality services.

Your experience in Development Management within a local authority environment, along with effective communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively within a team, will be highly valuable. It is important to have an interest in and basic understanding of current and draft planning legislation at local, London regional, and national levels.
