Description
We're looking for a dynamic, proactive and relationship-focused Operations Officer to join our England Operations team. This is an exciting opportunity to work directly with schools, colleges, charities, local authorities and other organisations, helping more young people access and benefit from the DofE programme.
As an Operations Officer, you will manage a portfolio of Licensed Organisations (LOs) across East Bedfordshire, North Cambridge, Peterborough, and North Norfolk, supporting them to deliver a high-quality DofE programme while driving growth, inclusion and participation.
This is a field-based role. When not attending meetings, training sessions or events, you will work from home. Applicants should live within, or close to, East Bedfordshire, North Cambridge, Peterborough, and North Norfolk area.
You will be the primary point of contact for a portfolio of Licensed Organisations, building strong partnerships and providing expert support, guidance and training.
Working closely with colleagues across England and the wider UK, you will help implement the DofE's strategic objectives, expand participation and ensure that more young people, particularly those facing barriers and marginalisation, can access our programmes.
This role offers a great mix of relationship management, programme development, training delivery, data analysis and project work.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with Licensed Organisations to support the delivery of a high-quality DofE programme.
- Provide day-to-day support, advice and guidance to Licensed Organisations, including the induction and training of staff.
- Develop and implement organisation-specific development plans with both short and long-term objectives.
- Monitor performance and participation trends using DofE systems and management tools, supporting accurate forecasting, budgeting and target tracking.
- Promote effective use of eDofE and other operational systems across your portfolio.
- Conduct regular meetings with Licensed Organisations, both online and face-to-face.
- Undertake licence reviews and support the onboarding of new Licensed Organisations.
- Increase participation among young people experiencing marginalisation and help ensure programme accessibility and inclusivity.
- Support the planning, promotion and delivery of regional events and activities.
- Attend and support national DofE events, including Gold Award celebrations, with occasional overnight stays where required.
- Work collaboratively with colleagues across the UK, contributing to projects, working groups and organisational initiatives.
- Assist with grant applications and the monitoring and reporting of funded projects.
- Contribute to the delivery of the DofE strategy and England business plan.

- Outstanding organisational and administrative skills, with the ability to manage competing priorities and meet deadlines.
- Strong attention to detail and experience producing high-quality written communications.
- Confidence in facilitating meetings, delivering training and giving presentations in both virtual and face-to-face settings.
- A solution-focused mindset with the confidence to challenge poor practice constructively.
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret data and take appropriate action.
- Good digital literacy, including confidence using Microsoft Office applications.
- A genuine commitment to supporting young people and promoting inclusion and opportunity for all.
Please note this role is a 12 month Fixed Term Contract

The DofE are committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of young people. All successful applicants will be required to undergo an Enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service check. (e.g. DBS/PVG or similar), including references covering any gaps of employment/education, confirm eligibility to work in the UK and complete a health check.
**The geographical allowance is based on a member of staff having a home or office-based postcode within 30 miles (as the crow flies) from Charing Cross, WC2N 5HS. The allowance is 7% capped at £4,000 per annum.
