Global Distillates Trading and Origination (GDIST) is part of the ST&S Refined Products Trading Organization. It trades FuelOil, Gasoil, Diesel, Biofuels and Jet Fuel globally around our assets and third-party relationships in sectors that include Aviation, Marine and GroundFuels. As a business we have traders in London, Singapore and Chicago with representatives in regional offices in areas such as the Middle East, Australia, Indonesia, China, Nigeria, Ghana and South Africa.

Role summary:

The commodity execution trader based in our London office will be responsible for managing flows of exchange traded activity. They will work in collaboration with the trading bench to optimize the execution of trades across various paper instruments. They will build an understanding of underlying pricing exposures to effectively hedge the trading portfolio while remaining in compliance with all internal and external (exchange) regulations. The role offers immediate exposure to trading across the global Distillates team. This is an office-based role, with an expectation to work from our London office 5 days per week.

What you will be doing:

• Complete and manage flow, on behalf of, and in partnership with, the trading bench across exchange traded (CME/Nymex, ICE, etc) commodity paper instruments
• Manage the end-to-end lifecycle of exchange-traded activity, including trade confirmation, allocation and post-trade processing
• Partner with business support and control teams to ensure trades are driven in a safe and compliant manner, adhering to all exchange and regulatory controls
• Maintain a strong understanding of developments in exchange-traded markets, proactively keeping updated of evolving technologies, market practices, and regulatory changes.

What we are looking for:

Essential

• Experience executing trades on electronic trading platforms.
• Proven experience in execution-related activities within trading, commodities, financial markets, brokerage, banking, hedge funds, oil majors, or similar environments.
• Strong understanding of futures markets and trading processes.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced, commercially focused environment.
• Excellent attention to detail and strong analytical skills.
• Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively with partners across multiple locations.

Preferred

• Oil trading execution experience.
• Experience with distillates, diesel, or refined products markets.
• Experience driving futures contracts on electronic exchanges.
• Familiarity with trading platforms such as Trading Technologies (TT) or similar systems.
• Exposure to derivatives, futures, and swap markets.
