Membership Business Development Manager
Ten Group
Ten’s Private Membership team is looking for a Membership Business Development Manager. This is a true business development role: leads won’t come to you – you’ll create them.
We are looking for a self-starter who will open doors across London’s private members’ clubs, luxury brands, influencers and HNW communities, and find new and creative ways to put Ten in front of HNW and UHNW audiences.
You will own your pipeline from the very first conversation through to conversion and first-year renewal, working alongside Ten’s most senior Lifestyle Managers, Team Managers and Service Delivery Directors to make sure every new member receives an exceptional experience.
This role is ideal for a commercially driven networker who thrives on autonomy, enjoys testing new ideas, and wants the freedom to shape how Ten grows its Private Membership within a global organisation.
Who we’re looking for
A confident, entrepreneurial and well-connected individual who takes ownership of the full membership sales cycle – from generating their own leads and building partnerships, to converting the pipeline and managing first-year renewals. You’ll bring fresh ideas for reaching new audiences, be passionate about sharing Ten’s service with the world, and won’t wait to be told where the next opportunity is.
- A proven track record of winning new business and building a sales pipeline from scratch (luxury, lifestyle or B2C sales experience is a plus).
- An established network – or the proven ability to build one quickly – across private members’ clubs, luxury brands and HNW/UHNW communities.
- Thrive on meeting new people and business networking, including attending and hosting events and joining luxury community groups.
- Goal-oriented with a strong drive to achieve results and exceed targets.
- Creative and commercially minded, with the ability to spot unconventional routes to market and test them.
- A strong understanding of social media and influencer marketing, with ideas for using Instagram creators and brand ambassadors to drive interest in Ten.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to build rapport and trust with HNW and UHNW individuals.
- Resilient and persistent – comfortable with rejection and disciplined in following up.
- A self-starter who takes ownership of their own pipeline without needing direction.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, Canva and CRM software (e.g., HubSpot or Salesforce).
Key Responsibilities
- New Business Generation: Proactively identify, approach and convert HNW and UHNW prospective members to drive Ten Private Membership revenue. This is an outbound role – you will be responsible for generating the majority of your own pipeline.
- Private Members’ Club Partnerships: Build and nurture relationships with private members’ clubs, creating opportunities such as co-hosted events, reciprocal member benefits and warm introductions.
- Influencer and Social Partnerships: Identify, approach and manage partnerships with Instagram influencers, content creators and brand ambassadors who can authentically recommend Ten to the right audiences.
- Referral and Ambassador Networks: Develop referral partnerships with luxury brands and trusted advisors to HNW individuals, such as wealth managers, family offices, estate agents and luxury retailers.
- Events and Networking: Attend, host and create events and experiences that generate high-quality leads and showcase the value of Ten membership.
- Sales Process Management: Manage the entire sales process from prospecting to closing, ensuring a seamless and positive experience for prospective members. Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of customer interactions, sales activities and pipeline progress in the CRM.
- Member Engagement and Retention: Build strong relationships with new members through effective communication, active listening and understanding their needs, supporting them from initial sale through to their first renewal.
- Product and Proposition Knowledge: Develop a comprehensive understanding of our service and proposition, and communicate its features, benefits and value compellingly to prospective members.
- Target Achievement: Meet or exceed monthly/quarterly sales targets and Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) set by the Head of Private Memebrship.
- Market Insight and Innovation: Identify, test and report on new acquisition channels, keeping ahead of industry trends, competitor activity and emerging opportunities.
- Collaboration: Bring social media, influencer and campaign ideas to the marketing team; work with the proposition team to use the latest member benefits to drive sales; and liaise with service delivery to stay close to the member journey and support renewals.
Key Measure of Success
- Ten Private Membership sales revenue
- Percentage of pipeline that is self-generated rather than from inbound leads
- Number of new partnerships established (private members’ clubs, luxury brands, influencers and referral partners)
- Leads and conversions generated through partner and referral channels
- Events attended or hosted, and the leads generated from each
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
- As a Membership Business Development Manager you will be expected to role model Ten’s Standards and the behaviours associated with our values: Member Focused, Trustworthy and Pioneering. This means approaching your work every day with a positive, solution-oriented and supportive attitude, setting ambitious standards for yourself, and bringing a genuinely pioneering mindset to how Ten finds and wins new members.
- Along with relevant experience, the Membership Business Development Manager is expected to be skilled within the following areas:
- Initiative and Ownership: creates opportunities rather than waiting for them, and takes full accountability for building and converting their own pipeline.
- Creative Thinking: brings, tests and refines unconventional ideas for reaching and selling to HNW and UHNW audiences.
- Network Building: opens doors with private members’ clubs, luxury brands and influential individuals, and maintains strategic relationships over time.
- Digital and Social Awareness: understands influencer marketing and social selling, and how to use them to generate demand.
- Communication: strong communication skills and confidence dealing with HNW/UHNWIs and their lifestyle, expectations, needs and preferences.
- Resilience and Collaboration: persistent in the face of rejection, and able to work with stakeholders across Ten – including service delivery and proposition teams – to ensure every new member is set up for success.
