Lunchtime Supervisor

Location: Sutton, South London

Salary: £14.24–£15.00 per hour

Contract: Part-time, long-term temporary

Start date: 28 September 2026

A supportive primary school in Sutton is looking for a positive and attentive Lunchtime Supervisor to join its midday team.

The school aims to make lunchtime an enjoyable and inclusive part of the day. As a Lunchtime Supervisor, you will support pupils in the dining hall and playground, promote positive behaviour and help children take part in safe and constructive play.

This position offers regular term-time hours and would suit someone who is patient, observant and comfortable taking responsibility for children’s welfare.

Responsibilities

  • Supervising pupils while they eat and play
  • Promoting good manners, kindness and respectful behaviour
  • Encouraging children to take part in inclusive playground activities
  • Supporting pupils who may find unstructured times more challenging
  • Dealing with minor incidents calmly and seeking assistance when needed
  • Administering basic first aid if appropriately trained
  • Reporting safeguarding, medical and behavioural concerns
  • Helping to leave dining and play areas clean and organised
  • Following the school’s health and safety and behaviour policies

Requirements

  • A caring, fair and consistent manner
  • Good communication skills
  • The confidence to supervise groups of children
  • The ability to remain calm and respond sensibly to minor incidents
  • Reliability and a strong awareness of pupil safety
  • Previous school or childcare experience is helpful but not essential
  • First-aid training would be an advantage
  • An enhanced DBS check, or willingness to complete one
