Head of IT – West
Petredec
Overall Purpose Of The Job
Lead and manage the IT function across Petredec's West region (London, Monaco and Houston), ensuring network architecture, infrastructure and business-critical systems — including Aspect ETRM, Veson IMOS and Dynamics 365 Business Central — are fit for purpose, secure, and available at or close to 100%. Act as the senior IT point of contact for the region's trading, chartering, treasury, compliance and investment stakeholders, translating business needs into technical delivery, and partner with the Group Head of IT on the Group's wider IT strategy, disaster recovery and business continuity planning.
Career progression: this role is expected to grow over time into a Deputy Group Head of IT position. This JD describes the role's initial scope; the expanded remit is a future step, not a day-one requirement.
Key Tasks And Responsibilities
Infrastructure & Network
- Design, specify and maintain Petredec's network architecture across London, Monaco and Houston, keeping it fit for purpose and aligned to business needs.
- Ensure the network and all hosted business systems are reliable, resilient and secure at all times.
- Manage the full IT asset lifecycle — hardware/software procurement, inventory tracking and refresh planning — across the region.
- Provide hands-on technical troubleshooting for the London office, with remote support extended to Monaco, Houston and other Group locations as required.
Business Systems Oversight (Aspect ETRM, Veson IMOS, Dynamics 365 Business Central)
- This IT Systems scope sits directly with the Head of IT – West; the IT Manager – West’s remit is limited to regional infrastructure and mainstream IT support (see Direct Reports).
- Own regional governance of Aspect ETRM, Veson IMOS and Dynamics 365 Business Central — the trade & risk management, voyage management, and accounting platforms underpinning the West region's operations.
- Act as the senior escalation point for platform issues raised by the IT Systems Analyst (London), ensuring prioritisation reflects business and trading impact.
- Maintain sufficient working technical fluency in the platforms — data models, integration architecture (e.g. Aspect ↔ D365BC, Veson IMOS ↔ FOS/VVR, market data and broker feeds), and reporting layer — to credibly direct, sanity-check and unblock the Systems team's technical work.
- Coordinate with the Assistant Manager, IT Systems (Singapore) on regional delivery priorities and coverage, providing dotted-line direction to the IT Systems Analyst (London) on Aspect/Veson/D365BC work specific to the West region.
- Manage vendor relationships for these platforms in the region (e.g. CMAS/Aspect, Veson, Microsoft partners), holding them to roadmap and SLA commitments.
- Represent West-region business stakeholders (Trade Finance, Risk, Ops/Fleet, Treasury) on major platform programmes as they affect the region — e.g. Aspect Phase 2 enhancements, Veson IMOS/FOS voyage-reporting integration — ensuring delivered outcomes are fit for purpose.
Governance, Security & Compliance
- Contribute to maintaining and developing Group IT policies, including cyber security, data privacy and emerging technology risk (e.g. AI usage guardrails).
- Periodically review and audit West-region entities to ensure compliance with Group IT policies and standards.
- Design, test and maintain documented response plans for adverse scenarios: cyber intrusion, data breach, and business interruption.
- Support Group-wide security and compliance initiatives with a West-region footprint (e.g. Cisco Secure Access rollout, Data Protection RoPA, Komgo KYC standardisation).
Project & Vendor Management
- Act as Project Manager for regional IT upgrade and transformation projects, delivering changes in a controlled manner that minimises disruption and downtime.
- Manage and control IT-related subscriptions and associated costs for the region, ensuring Value for Money.
- Lead the IT workstream for regional office moves and fit-outs (e.g. London fit-out and relocation, post Monaco fit-out), ensuring infrastructure is planned, delivered and tested on time.
- Ensure outsourced and managed services are delivered in line with agreed Service Level Agreements.
Team & Stakeholder Leadership
- Manage and develop the direct IT team member(s) in London and the IT Manager – West (Monaco), directing his infrastructure and mainstream IT support delivery there and into Houston, while retaining personal ownership of IT Systems (Aspect ETRM, Veson IMOS, D365BC) strategy and integration; dotted-line coordinate systems-focused work with the IT Systems Analyst (London).
- Build and maintain strong working relationships with regional business stakeholders — Trade Finance, Risk, Treasury, Compliance, Chartering/Ops — and with the new Investment team, plus building management and facilities providers.
- Drive end-user enablement through structured training programmes and proactive technical guidance.
Mandatory Responsibilities
- Understand and comply with all company policies, practices and statements relating to risk, compliance and confidentiality in all aspects of the role.
- Anticipate, identify and manage systems and risk issues in accordance with company policy, escalating to the appropriate management level as necessary.
Requirements Of The Job
Qualifications, Experience, Knowledge and Skills
- Degree in Information Technology or a related discipline, supported by relevant professional certifications.
- Significant experience (8+ years) in IT infrastructure or systems leadership roles, ideally including time in a commodity trading, energy, or shipping environment.
- In-depth knowledge and hands-on management experience of Wintel server environments, Microsoft technologies (Azure, Azure AD/Entra, Windows 11, MS Defender, Intune, Microsoft 365) and Cisco/Meraki networking solutions.
- Working technical fluency in Aspect ETRM (or a comparable ETRM/CTRM platform such as Openlink, Allegro, or Triple Point), Veson IMOS (or a comparable voyage management system such as MARiS), and Dynamics 365 Business Central (or a comparable ERP) — able to read data models, follow SQL/integration logic, and evaluate vendor proposals, without being expected to perform hands-on scripting personally.
- Demonstrable business understanding of the physical trading and/or shipping of LPG, LNG, or oil products — trade lifecycle, voyage economics, and P&L concepts — sufficient to engage credibly with trading, chartering and finance stakeholders.
- Proven vendor management and commercial negotiation skills.
- Working knowledge of API integration patterns, Azure Data Factory/Logic Apps, and SQL (MSSQL) reporting concepts.
- Prior experience managing distributed or remote teams across multiple time zones and jurisdictions.
- Fluent in written and spoken English.
Key Attributes / Core Competencies
- Proactive, able to work autonomously, with a strong sense of ownership and accountability.
- Able to operate credibly at both a hands-on technical level and a senior stakeholder/strategic level.
- Flexible with work hours; willing to cover IT support after hours in line with business requirements.
- Excellent communicator, able to collaborate effectively across geographies, functions, and seniority levels.
