Job Description

The Role: We are looking for an experienced and commercially driven Head of Digital Trading to lead the strategic trading performance of a portfolio of websites.

Reporting to the Group Head of Digital Trading & Operations, this role is responsible for translating business objectives into trading strategies, commercial priorities and growth plans that drive sustainable digital performance.

Working closely with Product, Technology, Marketing, Analytics and Commercial teams, the Head of Digital Trading will use customer insight, market trends and performance data to identify opportunities, shape future initiatives and improve the effectiveness of the digital trading function.

Key Responsibilities:

Trading Strategy & Commercial Growth

  • Define the digital trading strategy, commercial priorities and growth plans across allocated brands and customer segments.
  • Identify opportunities to increase revenue, improve customer experience and drive long term profitability.
  • Translate business objectives into clear trading priorities and measurable outcomes.

Commercial Planning & Forecasting

  • Own the trading planning framework, including annual strategies, seasonal plans and promotional frameworks.
  • Establish performance targets, governance structures and reporting frameworks that support business decision making.
  • Use market trends, customer insight and performance data to identify future opportunities and risks.
  • Ensure customer needs remain at the centre of all commercial and trading decisions.
  • Use data and insight to inform decisions and ensure resources are focused on the highest value opportunities.

Product, Technology & Innovation

  • Partner with Product and Technology teams to influence roadmap priorities.
  • Define future trading capabilities including automation, AI, personalisation and new digital tools.
  • Build business cases for investments that drive measurable commercial value.

Leadership & Capability

  • Lead and develop a high performing trading team, creating a culture of accountability, collaboration and continuous improvement.
  • Build strong relationships across Commercial, Marketing, Product, Technology and Operations functions, providing insight and recommendations to executive stakeholders

Qualifications

  • Significant experience leading digital trading, ecommerce or digital commercial functions.
  • Strong commercial and analytical capability with experience managing revenue and growth performance.
  • Experience developing digital strategies and delivering measurable business outcomes.
  • Proven ability to influence senior stakeholders across multiple functions.
  • Strong leadership experience with a track record of building and developing high performing teams.
  • Knowledge of ecommerce platforms, customer behaviour, optimisation and emerging digital technologies.
