Graduate Business Manager – 2027 – London

We’re excited to open applications for our 2027 Graduate Programme, starting in September. This is your opportunity to build a meaningful career where your work contributes to healthier, greener, and more inclusive places for people to thrive.

Our dedicated Facilities Management (FM) teams deliver expert Hard FM services—such as mechanical and electrical maintenance, lifecycle and capital works, asset management, and fabric upkeep—alongside integrated Soft FM solutions covering grounds maintenance, security, waste management, and helpdesk support.

As a Graduate Business Manager on our two-year program, you’ll play a hands-on role in delivering FM contracts while developing the skills and experience to step confidently into an Operations Manager or Technical Manager position. You’ll rotate through two of our diverse sectors—healthcare, defence, education, local authorities, and commercial properties—gaining in-depth knowledge of every facet of site-based facilities management. You’ll also collaborate with our commercial and finance teams to sharpen your business acumen and help drive our strategic goals.

This role is ideal for someone looking to combine commercial insight, technical expertise, and strong interpersonal skills, with a clear ambition to progress into a General Manager role. Whether at a hospital, school, defence facility, local authority building, or commercial site, you’ll have a real opportunity to make a positive impact on the communities we serve.

What you'll do:

  • Build and maintain successful relationships with our supply chain partners and clients.
  • Actively champion a safe and stable environment to deliver an Injury Free project, ensuring project compliance with the Health & Safety at Work Act (HASAWA) 1974.
  • Monitor project performance against contract requirements, including agreed KPIs (key performance indicators) and SLA’s (service level agreements).
  • Provide regular reporting on progress metrics, key activities and expenditure against budget.
  • Assist with collating data and records for supply chain performance meetings, contract tender and renewal process, along with contractual exercises such as Benchmarking
  • Support the senior management team in attending strategic and other key client or internal meetings.
  • Work with the Commercial Manager to develop understanding of risk, forecasting and budget setting.
  • Work with Finance to understand the monthly figures, and how we can take steps to prevent losses and maximise profitability on a contract.
  • Support internal, external, client and supply chain auditing and close out of actions
  • Support the senior management team in delivering against Skanska Business Plan objectives

What you'll bring to the role:

  • Studying towards (final year) or have recently completed a bachelor’s or master’s degree in a Business, Construction, or STEM related subject. Other disciplines will be considered, provided you can demonstrate a strong interest in Facilities Management
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • Ability to build and manage relationships at all levels
  • Collaborative and able to work well in a team environment
  • Ambition and drive to progress to a leadership role
  • High level of numerical aptitude
  • An active problem solver
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks concurrently, often working to tight deadlines
  • Ability to use MS Word, PowerPoint, Excel and Outlook
  • An interest in the sectors in which we operate would be beneficial

What we offer:
