We give you a world of potential

At Computershare, we're trusted by some of the world's leading organisations to deliver employee share plans and financial administration services.

As the General Counsel supporting our Global Plans business, you'll step into a highly visible leadership role supporting a business that operates across multiple markets and complex regulatory environments.

This is far more than a traditional legal position. We're looking for a commercially astute leader who wants to be involved in shaping strategy, supporting growth, influencing decision-making and helping the business navigate change. You'll bring legal expertise, but equally important is your ability to build relationships, challenge constructively and provide practical guidance that enables the business to move forward.

A role you will love

As General Counsel, Global Plans, you'll be the senior legal leader supporting our employee share plans business and will report to the Group General Counsel. Working closely with executive leaders and business stakeholders, you'll help shape strategic direction while ensuring legal and regulatory risks are effectively managed.

Success in this role is about far more than providing legal advice. We're looking for someone who is naturally curious, commercially savvy and comfortable operating both as a legal adviser and a business partner.

No two days are the same. You could be discussing a new business opportunity with the Global Plans CEO, navigating regulatory developments, supporting complex commercial negotiations, managing legal risk, coaching members of your team or leading initiatives that improve how legal services are delivered across the business.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Acting as a strategic advisor to the Global Plans executive team, supporting business priorities and long-term growth plans
  • Translating complex legal issues into pragmatic solutions that support business objectives
  • Advising on regulatory developments and their impact across multiple jurisdictions
  • Supporting complex commercial negotiations
  • Managing legal risk, disputes and governance matters while balancing commercial outcomes
  • Leading initiatives that improve efficiency, governance and the delivery of legal services
  • Developing frameworks, templates and approaches that support scalable growth
  • Being an active member of the Global Legal Leadership team, both shaping and supporting the Global Legal Department’s strategy and objectives
  • Leading and developing a legal team across multiple jurisdictions
  • Influencing decision-making through strong stakeholder relationships and credible legal leadership

What makes this role exciting:

  • Direct access to key decision-makers and executive leadership teams, including the Global Plans CEO
  • Opportunity to be involved in the development of business strategy rather than simply react to it
  • Broad international scope across diverse legal and regulatory frameworks
  • Freedom to introduce new ideas, challenge existing approaches and drive meaningful change
  • Visible leadership position within a successful and growing business
  • Opportunity to lead, develop and inspire a talented legal team

What will you bring to the role?

We're looking for an experienced lawyer who combines strong technical capability with outstanding commercial judgement, leadership skills and a genuine passion for partnering with the business.

You'll be someone who enjoys operating in a fast-paced environment, builds credibility quickly and can confidently balance risk, opportunity and business priorities.

You'll bring:

  • Qualified lawyer with significant post-qualification experience gained within a leading law firm and/or in-house environment
  • Experience operating in a senior legal position with responsibility for complex commercial matters
  • Strong business partnering capability and the confidence to influence senior stakeholders
  • Experience supporting regulated businesses, ideally within financial services or a similar environment
  • Exposure to multi-jurisdictional legal and regulatory frameworks
  • Strong business acumen with the confidence to balance risk and opportunity
  • Experience leading, mentoring and developing legal professionals
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to simplify complex concepts and influence a wide range of audiences
  • An energetic, collaborative and approachable leadership style
  • Experience improving processes, introducing new ways of working or driving operational change
  • The ability to navigate ambiguity and make sound decisions in a changing environment

You'll stand out if you have:

  • Extensive, senior level experience, with some of that time spent in-house directly managing other lawyers, preferably across multiple countries and time zones
  • Experience supporting employee share plans, equity plans or related financial services businesses
  • Experience working within a global or highly matrixed organisation
  • Experience leading teams across
  • Demonstrated capabilities as an operational partner, including a track record of building scalable frameworks, processes and governance models

This is an exceptional opportunity for a commercially minded legal leader who wants to have a genuine impact on business performance, shape strategic decisions and help define the future direction of a globally recognised organisation.
