Fund Financial Controller

The Role
We're seeking a Fund Financial Controller to join the Fund Management team at NextEnergy Capital. This role is responsible for overseeing the financial operations of multiple renewable energy funds, ensuring accurate accounting, timely reporting, strong governance, and compliance with investor and regulatory requirements. The successful candidate will work closely with fund administrators, auditors, investment professionals, investor relations, and other internal stakeholders to maintain robust financial controls while supporting strategic fund performance and growth.
Key Responsibilities
Working alongside experienced investment and fund management professionals, this will be an integral role within the Fund Management team:
- Oversee all fund accounting and audit processes, ensuring accuracy and compliance with relevant standards.
- Manage cash flow, distributions, and capital calls, supporting efficient fund operations and liquidity management.
- Review quarterly and annual financial statements and investor reporting deliverables.
- Liaise with external fund administrators and auditors to coordinate audits and implement best practice processes.
- Maintain investment trackers and support investment transactions, acquisitions, fund structuring activities, and funding arrangements.
- Respond to ad hoc requests from Investor Relations, Investment, Asset Management, and other internal teams.
- Support fundraising activities, investor communications, due diligence processes, and responses to investor queries.
- Ensure compliance with applicable accounting standards, including IFRS and UK GAAP, as well as fund-specific regulatory requirements.
- Monitor and report on fund-level KPIs and provide financial analysis to support decision-making.
- Support new fund launches, tax initiatives, process improvements, and operational enhancements.
- Contribute to the maintenance of internal controls, risk management frameworks, and financial policies.
- Participate in system improvements, automation projects, and reporting transformation initiatives.

Experience & Qualifications
- ACA, ACCA, CIMA or equivalent accounting qualification.
- ~2+ years post-qualification experience (PQE).
- Experience within renewable energy, infrastructure, private equity, or alternative investment fund environments.
- Experience working with UK and international fund structures.
- Strong technical accounting knowledge and financial reporting experience.
- Advanced Excel skills and financial modelling capabilities.
- Knowledge of fund taxation and regulatory requirements.
- Experience with fund accounting platforms such as Investran, eFront, Yardi, or similar would be advantageous.
- Experience presenting financial information and recommendations to senior stakeholders.
- Right to work in the UK.
