We are looking for an experienced and highly organised Events Manager to join our Events and Development team. This is an exciting opportunity for an events professional who thrives in a fast-paced environment and enjoys delivering exceptional experiences across both private and internally cultivated events.

As Events Manager, you will lead the planning and delivery of a diverse portfolio of events, managing clients and stakeholders from initial contracting through to event delivery and post-event evaluation.

You will work closely with the Head of Events and colleagues across Development, as well as teams including Facilities and Visitor Experience, to deliver events to Serpentine’s high standards while ensuring that all activity is safe, compliant and aligned with Royal Parks requirements.

Your portfolio will include corporate venue hires across the Magazine, Pavilion and Serpentine Galleries, as well as internally cultivated events such as exhibition openings, donor events and Bloomberg events.

You will be a confident and collaborative events professional, able to balance creativity and commercial awareness with meticulous organisation and operational delivery.

  • Proven ability to deliver internal events and commercial venue hires of varying scale and complexity, balancing exceptional guest experience, stakeholder expectations and operational requirements.
  • Proven project management and organisational skills, with the ability to balance competing priorities, adapt to changing demands and deliver high-quality outcomes to tight deadlines in a dynamic environment.
  • Creative and solutions-focused, with the ability to generate innovative ideas and develop practical approaches to challenges and opportunities.
  • Reliable and flexible in approach, with the ability to work outside office hours at events when required.
  • A professional approach to handling confidential and sensitive information.
  • A genuine enjoyment of meeting people, with the ability to communicate effectively at all levels.
  • Able to remain calm and effective under pressure, managing competing demands and delivering high-quality outcomes to tight deadlines.
  • Strong computer literacy, including Windows-based word processing, spreadsheet and database applications.
  • Experience of the Zkipster guestlist management system and Salesforce CRM, or similar systems.
  • A genuine interest in and commitment to the work of Serpentine.

Main Duties:

  • Work with the Head of Events and wider Development team to plan and deliver internally cultivated events, particularly Exhibition Openings (Press Views, Private Views, Council Previews), the Donor Programme and Bloomberg events.
  • Plan and deliver Corporate Hires of the Magazine, Pavilion and Serpentine Galleries, providing excellent customer service that upholds Serpentine’s standards and reputation as one of the world’s more sought-after events spaces.
  • Work with Facilities, Front of House, Visitor Experience and other departments to ensure safe, compliant events, including producing risk assessments and meeting Royal Parks regulations.
  • Manage security, suppliers, deliveries and venue logistics during load-in, throughout live events and load-out.
  • Work with Development to build partner relationships and secure sponsors for internal events, as well as contributing ideas and responding to changing priorities.
  • Work with the Event Sales Manager to provide expert advice and event information for Corporate Hire clients.
  • Work on invitation design and copy, and administrate events on Salesforce from contracting to delivery, as well as creating guestlist campaigns.
  • Manage guest communications and RSVPs via Zkipster.
  • Produce detailed information packs for allocated events and act as main point of contact on-site.
  • Manage post-event analysis and client feedback, following up on actions and circulating post-event reports.
  • Keep up to date with industry trends and champion best practice.

General duties:

  • Be a champion for Arts Council England’s Inclusivity and Relevance Investment Principle to ensure best practice through a proactive approach to equality, diversity and inclusion.
  • Follow and assist in the implementation of all Serpentine’s policies including Dignity at Work and Health and Safety policies.
  • Any other activities as are necessary for the operation of the Events Team and its strategic objectives.

Hours:

Our normal office working hours are 10am to 6pm, Monday to Friday, although the jobholder will be expected, within reason, to work such hours outside these periods as are necessary for the proper fulfilment of the role.

We operate a hybrid working model, with employees attending the office 3 days per week with the option to work from home 2 days per week.

Duration of Appointment:

This is a permanent appointment, subject to a 3-month probationary period.

Annual Leave:

The annual leave entitlement is 25 days per annum pro rata rising to 30 days after 5 years’ service. In addition, staff receive 8 Bank Holidays per annum.
