Position Overview

LEGO Digital Play will bring the LEGO brand into digital entertainment in new, innovative, and wholly-owned ways. Our mission is to ensure the LEGO Brand remains as powerfully a part of children’s lives in the coming decades as it has ever been. We aim to reach every kid on the planet, their parents, and adult fans of LEGO—and provide them with meaningful, magical, and playful new experiences.

We are at the earliest phases of this new company, offering a unique opportunity to build a new entity for the world's most beloved and trusted brand. Our culture is open, collaborative, intellectually rigorous, and creatively vibrant.

We're hiring our first dedicated financial reporting hire, a founding role responsible for the accuracy, integrity and control of LDP's financial results. You'll lead the close and reporting process, own the balance sheet, and build the control environment that lets LDP scale with confidence, while representing Finance on our ERP implementation as we set the business up with the right tools for the long term.

This is a newly created role based in London, England, reporting to the VP, Head of Finance. You'll be founding the financial controls team, so you'll be as comfortable setting up how things work as you are running them well.

You'll work as a hands-on partner and doer alongside the VP and the FP&A team, not behind them, while building out your own controls team over time. Finance at LDP works in the open, so you'll be just as comfortable collaborating closely with HR, IT and the wider corporate functions as you are with Finance itself.

Key Responsibilities

Own the monthly close, balance sheet and consolidation

  • Lead the monthly close process for all LDP entities, ensuring financial results are accurate, complete, well-supported and delivered on time.
  • Own the consolidation, intercompany eliminations, alignment of accounting policy across entities, and the group reporting submission into LEGO Group.
  • Own the integrity of the balance sheet, including reconciliations, accruals, provisions and cut-off.
  • Deliver high-quality financial reporting and insight, explaining key movements, risks and issues clearly to Finance, Operations and Group stakeholders.

Own LDP's technical accounting framework

  • Own LDP's accounting policies and technical judgements, ensuring consistent application across all entities and alignment with LEGO Group policy, where relevant.
  • Act as the go to technical authority on complex or contentious treatments, defending positions to auditors and Group Finance.

Represent Finance on the ERP implementation

  • Work with consultants and internal stakeholders to set LDP up with world-class financial tools and technology that support robust reporting, planning and scalable ways of working.

Found the financial controls team

  • Build and establish financial controls as a founding member, setting the standards a growing business will run on.
  • Build out the Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable functions as the transaction backbone of the finance team.
  • Partner closely with FP&A, Group Finance, Legal, Procurement, HR/Payroll, IT and external ERP consultants to keep reporting, planning, controls and systems aligned with operational needs.

Be a hands-on partner, not just a controller

  • Work day-to-day as a partner and doer alongside the VP, Head of Finance and the FP&A team, pitching in on shared problems rather than staying in your lane.
  • Build close working relationships with HR, IT and corporate functions, so controls and processes are designed with the business rather than imposed on it.

Qualifications

Must have

  • Strong financial controlling, accounting or audit background, with proven ownership of close, reporting, reconciliations and balance sheet integrity.
  • Background in gaming, entertainment, tech or another IP-driven, project-based business.
  • Sharp technical accounting judgement, able to challenge treatment and spot risk before it becomes a problem.
  • ERP and finance systems experience, ideally from an implementation, upgrade or process redesign.
  • Cross-functional influence, able to lead finance processes across Operations, Group Finance and consultants without relying on formal authority.
  • Strong communicator, equally clear with finance and non-finance audiences.
  • Comfortable founding and shaping a team from scratch.
  • Deep enthusiasm for the mechanics of accounting: chart of accounts design, general ledger structure, and the systems debates that come with building for scale.

Nice to have

  • Familiarity with creative industry tax credits (VGEC/VGTR, R&D) and their reporting and compliance requirements.
  • ERP implementation, finance transformation or reporting automation experience.
  • International group structure experience, including group reporting, intercompany or statutory reporting, or shared services.
  • Complex revenue recognition experience under IFRS 15, such as digital sales, platform/app store arrangements or licensing.
  • A track record improving finance processes through systems, data quality and controls.
