G MASS Consulting are partnered with a leading Hedge Fund, as they seek a Control Room professional to join its global Compliance function in London.

This role is ideal for a compliance business analyst who combines hands-on Control Room experience with strong data and process skills. The role has a combination of BAU Control Room responsibilities — including restriction list management and position limit monitoring — as well as process and data improvement initiatives to strengthen controls, data quality, and automation.

Equally important is mindset. The team is small, fast-moving, and highly commercial, and the successful candidate will be someone who takes ownership from day one, works without hand-holding, and actively looks for ways to make the control environment better.

Responsibilities:

  • Maintain and administer restriction lists, including watch and restricted lists, ensuring accuracy, completeness, and timely updates.
  • Perform position limit monitoring across asset classes, investigating and escalating breaches, exceptions, and data anomalies.
  • Support the firm’s information barrier and MNPI controls, including wall-crossing procedures and need-to-know governance.
  • Act as a day-to-day point of contact for the business on restriction, limit, and conflicts queries, providing clear and timely responses.
  • Document, review, and refine Control Room procedures, controls, and workflows.
  • Gather and write requirements, and work with technology teams to improve the data feeds, logic, and tooling that underpin restriction and limit monitoring.
  • Take ownership of process and data improvement initiatives end to end, identifying opportunities proactively rather than waiting for direction.
  • Assist with periodic reviews, regulatory requests, and audit queries.
  • Contribute to ongoing enhancements of the Control Room framework and its underlying data architecture.
  • A genuine ownership mindset. The team is deliberately lean and does not operate with close supervision: you will be expected to identify what needs doing, drive it to completion, and hold yourself accountable end to end. This is the single most important criterion for the role.
  • Hands-on experience in a Control Room, compliance, or control function at a hedge fund, investment bank, or asset manager, with direct exposure to restriction lists and position limit monitoring.
  • A compliance business analyst skill set: requirements gathering, process documentation, data analysis, and working effectively alongside technology teams.
  • Working understanding of MNPI, information barriers, and conflicts management principles.
  • Strong data analysis and data manipulation capability, including SQL, with the ability to interrogate large datasets and turn findings into practical improvements.
  • Demonstrated experience balancing BAU control responsibilities with change, transformation, or data enhancement projects.
  • Curiosity and a demonstrable track record of improving the processes you inherit rather than simply operating them.
