Community Manager
FitFlop
The Community Manager will lead the day-to-day growth and activation of FitFlop’s community, creating meaningful ways for customers, fans and advocates to participate in the brand and build stronger relationships with FitFlop and with one another. Working across our priority owned markets, initially the UK, Germany and the US, the role will translate FitFlop’s global Community & Advocacy direction into locally relevant community programmes, conversations and experiences. It will work closely with social media, Creative, CRM, Growth, Digital, e-commerce and local market teams to connect community activity with wider brand stories, consumer needs and commercial priorities.
This is a proactive, outward-looking role for someone genuinely interested in people, culture and what creates participation. Success requires curiosity, strong relationship-building and comfort working in the grey, identifying opportunities, experimenting with new approaches and bringing the voice of our community back into the wider organisation.
The Responsibilities:
Global Community Growth & Participation:
- Lead the day-to-day community plan across priority owned markets, building engagement, participation and advocacy around FitFlop.
- Develop global programmes and moments that encourage customers and fans to contribute, connect, share and become more active participants in the brand.
- Build meaningful ongoing relationships with highly engaged members of the FitFlop community.
- Identify relevant local, cultural and consumer opportunities that can grow participation and strengthen community connection.
- Help evolve FitFlop from audience engagement towards deeper, ongoing community relationships.
Community Activation:
- Translate global brand, product and seasonal priorities into locally relevant community activity and experiences.
- Work closely with local market teams and external partners to develop grassroots programmes, events and community opportunities where relevant.
- Connect community activity with FitFlop’s owned e-commerce business, creating relevant participation around launches, product and commercial moments.
- Support the local activation of wider advocacy programmes while retaining a clear focus on the broader consumer community.
Community Conversation, UGC & Advocacy:
- Lead the approach to day-to-day community engagement, moderation and participation across relevant owned and social environments, working within the channel priorities set with the Social Media Manager.
- Identify, encourage and amplify strong community stories, recommendations and user-generated content.
- Manage permissions and moderation for community-originated UGC working with Creative and Social teams to ensure strong content can be used effectively.
- Identify highly engaged community members who could develop into stronger advocates or partnership opportunities, connecting them into wider brand or advocacy programmes where appropriate.
- Monitor sentiment, conversation and emerging community needs, identifying both opportunities and issues early.
Insight & Integrated Collaboration:
- Act as a strong voice for the community within the wider Brand organisation, bringing relevant feedback, behaviour, interests and cultural signals into planning.
- Work seamlessly with the Social Media Manager to connect social audience growth with deeper community participation and relationships.
- Partner with CRM & Insight to connect community behaviour into wider audience understanding and loyalty activity, while CRM retains ownership of lifecycle and loyalty programmes.
- Work closely with Social Content and Creative teams to turn community stories, UGC and participation into relevant content.
- Connect Community activity with Growth, Digital, e-commerce and local market priorities, rather than operating as a standalone programme.
Performance, Resources & Ways of Working:
- Establish clear measures across community growth, participation, engagement, sentiment and advocacy.
- Maintain community engagement plans and reporting, using insight to determine what should be scaled, evolved or stopped.
- Manage relevant budgets, agencies or local external support within priorities agreed with the Head of Community & Advocacy.
- Stay close to emerging community platforms, behaviours, technology and cultural shifts that could strengthen FitFlop’s approach.
- Work comfortably with changing priorities and incomplete information, bringing ideas and creating momentum rather than waiting for fully developed briefs.
The Person:
- Experience in community, advocacy, social, experiential or audience engagement within a consumer-facing brand or organisation.
- Proven ability to create genuine participation and build relationships around a brand, interest or community.
- Deeply interested in people, culture and what motivates audiences to participate, contribute and advocate.
- Culturally connected and curious, with a strong instinct for emerging behaviours, communities and relevant local opportunities.
- Digitally fluent, with a good understanding of how online and offline communities increasingly connect.
- Proactive and entrepreneurial, comfortable creating new approaches rather than relying on established programmes or processes.
- Comfortable working in the grey and adapting quickly as audiences, opportunities and priorities change.
- Highly collaborative and naturally inclined to connect Community, Social, Creative, CRM, Growth and local-market teams.
- Strong informal influencing and relationship-building skills, able to create participation without relying on hierarchy.
- Data-informed and commercially aware, understanding how stronger community can contribute to brand relevance, advocacy, audience growth and business performance.
- Strong personal accountability, organisation and problem-solving ability, able to manage multiple markets and initiatives while responding to emerging opportunities.
