If you’re looking for a career that will help you stand out, join HSBC, and fulfil your potential - whether you want a career that could take you to the top, or an exciting new direction, we offer opportunities, support and rewards that will take you further.

We’re one of the largest banking and financial services organisations in the world, with a network that covers more than 50 countries and territories. We aim to be where the growth is, enabling businesses to thrive and economies to prosper, and, ultimately, helping people fulfil their hopes and realise their ambitions.

We’re currently seeking an experienced professional to join our team in the role of Climate Analytics – Methodology Associate.

As a Climate Analytics - Methodology Associate you’ll help strengthen the methodologies that sit behind how we measure and disclose financed emissions. The role sits at the intersection of analytics, methodology development and evolving industry and regulatory expectations. You’ll turn climate, portfolio and counterparty data into clear insights that inform management decisions aligned with HSBC’s net zero ambitions. Success means producing robust methodology documentation, improving processes and governance and supporting disclosures that stand up to internal and external assurance.

As an HSBC employee in the UK, you’ll have access to tailored professional development opportunities and a competitive pay and benefits package. This includes private healthcare for all UK-based employees, enhanced maternity and adoption pay and support when you return to work, and a contributory pension scheme with a generous employer contribution.

In this role you will:

  • Collaborate with data analytics, model development teams and subject matter experts to evaluate and document financed emissions methodology enhancements
  • Generate quantitative insights to inform management decisions aligned with HSBC’s net zero goals
  • Monitor emerging industry guidance and policy expectations on financed emissions alignment and measurement, including PCAF and IFRS Sustainability Disclosure Standards
  • Interpret climate, portfolio, counterparty, industry and peer data to produce insights, recommendations and clear narrative
  • Support preparation of financed emissions disclosures, including methodology documentation for internal and external publication
  • Enhance processes and governance requirements to strengthen methodology implementation and controls
  • Produce communication materials that explain methodology and key changes for stakeholders
  • Coordinate across stakeholders, activities, systems and processes to deliver outcomes in a cross-functional team environment

To be successful in this role you should meet the following requirements:

  • Bring knowledge of or a clear interest in financed emissions and related methodologies and guidance including PCAF and IFRS Sustainability Disclosure Standards
  • Apply strong analytical and problem-solving skills to develop efficient solutions and practical recommendations
  • Maintain high data quality standards, with close attention to detail and a focus on integrity and accuracy of climate-related data and insights
  • Use critical thinking to review methodologies, identify improvements and question existing approaches where appropriate
  • Produce clear written documentation and methodology materials suitable for governance and disclosure
  • Apply an understanding of the Bank’s Risk Management Framework in day-to-day work
  • Support robust controls and assurance activity across 1LOD controls, 2LOD assurance and external assurance, with evidence and traceability
  • Demonstrate substantial experience across finance or strategy or sustainability in a complex environment
  • Influence and engage a diverse group of stakeholders to deliver insights in a highly visible area of the Group’s climate agenda
  • Manage competing and dynamic priorities while maintaining delivery expectations under time pressure
