About this role:

As the Chief Financial Officer for Crystal Palace Football Club, you will play a crucial role in overseeing the financial strategy and operations of the Club. This includes financial planning, management of financial risks, record-keeping, and financial reporting. You will ensure the financial health of the Club, driving sustainable growth and supporting major projects.

Responsibilities:

Financial Strategy and Planning

Develop and implement the financial strategy for the Club.

Lead financial planning and analysis to support strategic decision-making.

Ensure the Club's financial operations are robust, efficient, and compliant with all regulatory requirements.

Capital projects

  • Oversee the financial aspects of all capital projects including the main stand redevelopment project, ensuring cost management and budget adherence.
  • Collaborate with project managers and contractors to monitor expenses and financial progress on all capital projects.
  • Manage financing and funding arrangements for projects, ensuring financial viability and securing necessary investments.

Budget Management

  • Prepare and manage the annual budget, ensuring alignment with the Club’s strategic goals.
  • Monitor and control expenditure, ensuring all departments operate within their budgetary limits.
  • Report financial performance to the Executive Chairman and the Board.

Stakeholder Management

  • Build and maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders, including banks, investors, and regulatory bodies.
  • Communicate financial performance and strategic initiatives to the Board and other senior leaders.
  • Liaise with auditors, ensuring all financial audits are completed efficiently and accurately.

Compliance and Risk Management

  • Ensure compliance with all financial regulations and standards including Premier League and UEFA guidelines.
  • Identify and mitigate financial risks, implementing robust risk management frameworks.
  • Ensure the Club's financial practices are ethical and transparent.
  • Other duties and responsibilities as required by line manager.
  • Upholding and promoting the Club’s policies and procedures, including Health and Safety, Safeguarding and Equal Opportunities policies and procedures.

Experience, Skills and Qualifications:

  • Extensive experience in senior financial management roles.
  • Proven track record of managing large-scale financial projects, preferably in the sports or entertainment industry.
  • Strong strategic thinking and analytical skills.
  • Extensive experience in financial planning, budgeting, and forecasting.
  • Expertise in managing capital projects, with specific experience in overseeing construction or redevelopment projects.
  • In-depth knowledge of financial regulations and compliance requirements.
  • Exceptional leadership and team management skills, with a focus on mentoring and developing finance professionals.
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to convey complex financial information to non-financial stakeholders.
  • Demonstrated ability to build and maintain strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Experience in negotiating and managing contracts with vendors and partners.
  • Advanced proficiency in financial software and tools, including ERP systems.
  • Professional accounting qualification (e.g., ACA, ACCA, CIMA).
