Job Overview
Pulse is currently seeking an experienced and motivated Band 5 Pharmacy Technician to join the Pharmacy Cancer Services team in Hertfordshire. This is an exciting opportunity for a skilled pharmacy professional to work within a specialist Haematology and Oncology service, supporting the delivery of high-quality, safe, and cost-effective pharmaceutical care to patients receiving cancer treatments.
The successful candidate will work closely with pharmacists, aseptic services teams, and multidisciplinary healthcare professionals to support the preparation, management, and optimisation of medicines used within oncology and haematology services. This role is ideally suited to a pharmacy technician with NHS aseptic services experience and a strong understanding of medicines governance and quality assurance principles.
Key Responsibilities
- Support the provision of clinical pharmacy services to Haematology and Oncology patients.
- Contribute to the safe and effective delivery of pharmacy cancer services.
- Work within aseptic services in accordance with GMP and quality assurance standards.
- Support the preparation and management of chemotherapy and other specialist medicines.
- Utilise pharmacy and chemotherapy prescribing systems to support patient care.
- Contribute to pharmaceutical audits, validation activities, and service improvement initiatives.
- Maintain compliance with pharmaceutical quality systems and governance requirements.
- Collaborate with pharmacists, clinicians, and wider healthcare teams to optimise patient outcomes.
Qualifications and Experience
- Be registered with the General Pharmaceutical Council (GPhC).
- Have experience working within Aseptic Services in an NHS setting, which is essential.
- Possess knowledge of EMIS (Ascribe) Pharmacy System and BD Cato ChemoCare, or equivalent chemotherapy prescribing systems.
- Demonstrate experience supporting Haematology and Oncology pharmacy services.
- Have specialist knowledge of Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP) and Quality
- Assurance principles within a manufacturing environment.
- Possess specialist knowledge of Pharmaceutical Quality Systems.
- Have experience of pharmaceutical audit and validation processes.
- Demonstrate excellent organisational, communication, and teamwork skills.
