Arcadis is the world's leading company delivering sustainable design, engineering, and consultancy solutions for natural and built assets.

We are more than 34,000 people, in over 30 countries, dedicated to improving quality of life. Everyone has an important role to play. With the power of many curious minds, together we can solve the world’s most complex challenges and deliver more impact together.

Role description:

Arcadis is committed to becoming the leading asset management organisation, helping clients maximise the performance and value of their physical and natural assets across the entire lifecycle—from planning and creation through to maintenance, operation and disposal. By combining digital innovation, engineering expertise, data analytics and consultancy, we deliver sustainable and predictive solutions that enable asset-intensive organisations to make better decisions in an ever-changing environment.

We are seeking an Asset Lifecycle Modelling Consultant to join our UK rail asset management team. In this role, you will contribute to delivering our rail asset management strategy, supporting clients to make evidence-based investment and maintenance decisions across infrastructure assets. You will also support our wider global advisory business across mobility, resilience, and places.

As part of the mobility division, reporting to an associate director, you will be supported by experienced colleagues as you play a key role in shaping and growing the rail asset management team. This position offers excellent opportunities for career development, with scope to manage colleagues and act as a subject matter expert.

We are looking for individuals with a growth mindset who are eager to help build a unified, forward-looking asset management offering.

As part of a highly talented and experienced team, you’ll help deliver some of our biggest and most iconic projects. With your energy, agility and a keen eye for detail, you’ll deliver transformational outcomes for multiple clients every day.

We partner with our clients across the globe to design thriving and connected cities and communities that enable opportunity for all and keep the world moving. Climate change, urbanisation and digitisation trends are requiring today’s mobility projects and systems to address an evolving set of demands from the world’s growing population. We design connected, sustainable solutions that integrate existing infrastructure with new technologies, and optimise the mobility of people and goods.

Role accountabilities:

  • Deliver projects successfully: You will support the delivery of asset management and asset lifecycle modelling projects, producing high-quality analytical outputs and technical deliverables. Working alongside experienced consultants, you will contribute to project delivery, helping to ensure work is completed on time, to budget and to the required quality standards whilst supporting positive outcomes for our clients.
  • Develop asset lifecycle models: You will support the development and application of asset lifecycle models that help clients make informed investment, maintenance and renewal decisions. This may include analysing asset performance, deterioration trends, whole-life costs and future investment scenarios to improve the performance, resilience and value of critical infrastructure assets.
  • Apply analytical and digital tools: You will use a range of analytical and digital tools to interrogate, analyse and visualise data. This will include supporting the development of models, dashboards and decision-support tools, helping clients understand asset risks, performance and long-term investment requirements.
  • Support advisory services: You will contribute to a range of consultancy assignments across asset management, asset investment planning and infrastructure strategy. This may include supporting business cases, asset management plans, investment strategies, data improvement initiatives and maintenance optimisation studies.
  • Build strong working relationships: You will collaborate with multidisciplinary teams across Arcadis and work alongside clients to understand their challenges and objectives. Through clear communication and a proactive approach, you will build trusted working relationships and contribute positively to project teams.
  • Learn and develop professionally: You will actively develop your technical, analytical and consulting skills, taking advantage of the structured learning and development opportunities available within Arcadis..
  • Drive innovation and continuous improvement: You will contribute to the development of new tools, approaches and ways of working that improve how we analyse assets and support decision-making. You will be encouraged to bring fresh ideas, explore emerging technologies and help advance our asset management and digital consultancy capabilities.

Qualifications and experience:

Whatever your background, you will join an entrepreneurial and inclusive team with ambitious plans for growth. You are likely to be a recent graduate or early-career professional with a relevant academic background, a strong analytical mindset and an interest in how data and modelling can improve the performance and value of infrastructure assets. You may also have gained early professional experience in a consulting environment or within an organisation that owns, operates or manages assets. You will bring a problem-solving and output-focused approach, together with an interest in understanding clients’ business needs, building strong relationships and contributing to effective solutions.

Essential requirements:

  • A degree, or expected degree, in engineering, asset management, mathematics, data science, economics, physics, operational research or a related discipline.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to interpret and draw insights from data.
  • An interest in infrastructure, transport, utilities or the built environment.
  • Ability to work with quantitative information and communicate findings clearly.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Interest in predictive analytics, digital twins, optimisation or decision-support tools.

  • Strong organisational skills and attention to detail.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and other standard data analysis tools.
  • Ability to translate technical information into clear and accessible outputs for clients and stakeholders.
  • Knowledge of whole-life costing, lifecycle planning or investment appraisal concepts.

Desirable requirements:

  • Understanding of asset management principles or awareness of ISO 55000.
  • Experience working with data analysis, modelling or forecasting through university projects or placements.
  • Familiarity with Power BI, Python, R, SQL or other data analytics tools.
