Description of the role:
We have been contracted to design a range of civils assets which need to be safety assured in accordance with the Common Safety Method (CSM). Specific key tasks include:
* Management of the Project Hazard Record
* Organising and participating in HAZID workshops
* Developing Safety Requirements
* Liaising with Design Engineers to ensure that evidence of compliance with safety requirements is provided and that it is appropriate
* Perform safety risk impact assessments when changes to the design of assets is encountered
* Liaising with the Client on matters relating to System Safety
* Performing Explicit Risk Estimation where necessary
* Preparation of Safety Case documents
* Other ad hoc system safety management activities required of the team
We have a team of 4 full-time System Safety engineers currently delivering the Engineering Safety Management works for this project, and due to a leave of absence the current System Safety Lead will need to be replaced. The System Safety Lead is required to manage the tasks and deliverables that are undertaken by the System Safety Team on the High Speed 2 project. This includes delegating tasks to each team-member, ensuring that the program of System Safety tasks are being adhered-to, providing CSM-expertise on specific issues as they arise, in addition to chairing HAZID workshops on a regular basis. The schedule of HAZID workshops is on average 1-2 per week, therefore the System Safety Lead shall be a confident, clear and authoritative chairperson with at-least 8+ years of experience of chairing HAZID/HAZOP workshops. As the project is maturing through the current Detailed Design stage, the System Safety Lead will also be required to assist package managers and the client System Safety Manager in planning-out the CSM activities for the next phase of works: Construction, Testing & Commissioning. The System Safety Lead will be required to engage with the Assessment Body (AsBo) lead confrmance assessor, answer any queries from the AsBo ,and manage the submissions for the Detailed Design Safety Assessment Reports (SAR) and Pre-commissioning SARs
