About the Role
As People Advisor, you'll act as a first point of contact; providing support and guidance on a range of people matters for line managers and staff members across the Retail directorate. As People Advisor, you'll also be responsible for recruitment; ensuring that recruitment and on boarding process are coordinated and completed in a timely manner.
You will have primary responsibility for all people matters for either the North or South Division and will work closely in partnership with your fellow divisional People Lead to ensure an excellent quality and timely service provision. You will also work collaboratively with the other members of the People Team, ensuring they are kept up to date with ongoing key employee relations cases and key vacancies across the directorate and supporting as required, across the other division.
Key Tasks and Responsibilities
Employee Relations
Manage employee relations and sickness absence casework in liaison with the relevant line manager. Ensuring the Head of People and the wider People Team are kept informed, as required.
Provide accurate and timely advice to line managers on a range of people matters, in line with the clients policies & procedures
Be the first point of contact for any urgent people queries, escalating appropriately where matters are complex or where there is significant risk to the business.
Support line managers with the preparation, review and completion of all documentation associated with people matters and processes.
Monitor and identify employees who meet an absence trigger, as outlined within the Sickness Management policy. Support the line manager in setting up sickness review meetings and carrying out OH referrals.
Support line managers with change management consultations, such as redundancy. Ensuring that all processes are followed in a timely manner.
Deal with sensitive issues in a confidential manner.
Advise employees and line managers on leave entitlements (e.g. maternity, paternity or additional leave) and the associated application process.
Administer and ensure timely completion of the relevant processes associated with leave arrangements outlined above.
Arrange for exit interviews/questionnaires to be issued and completed when an employee leaves Mind Retail.
Note taking at formal meetings as required.Recruitment and Selection
Support recruiting managers in ensuring that all adverts posted are of good quality, targeted to the relevant role and inclusive, in line with the strategic objectives.
Ensure that roles are advertised in a timely manner and through the appropriate channels
Monitor the status of live vacancies and drive actions for underperforming vacancies in liaison with recruiting managers and the Head of People.
Ensure that the onboarding process is completed for all candidates across the assigned division in a timely and accurate manner.
Ensure all pre-employment checks are undertaken in a timely manner, escalating any issues as appropriate.
Produce and analyse reportingReporting and Monitoring
Provide a summary of people activities to the Head of People on both a weekly and monthly basis.
Ensuring that all relevant trackers are kept accurate and up to date.
Produce reporting as and when required.Payroll
Liaise with the payroll department to ensure accurate submission of information pertaining to staff changes, such as information regarding all new starters, leavers and sickness absence, in accordance with payroll cut off dates.
Ensure resolution of any queries from the payroll departments in relation to staff changes.Administration
Accountable for ensuring that all emails and requests to shared email inboxes are actioned in a timely manner, ideally within two working days.People Projects
Lead or provide support on people projects, in line with Mind Retail's People & Development strategy and objectives.

About You
Essential
CIPD Level 5 or willingness to work towards
Knowledge of employment law and experience of interpreting and applying this law, combined with an understanding of good people practice.
Experience of supporting & advising line managers through employee relations cases and processes, including completion of associated documentation
Experience of providing advice to line managers on a range of People matters
Experience of supporting and administering all processes in relation to the recruitment & onboarding of employees.
Experience of organising and prioritising own workload on a day-to-day basis. Ability and willingness to work to tight deadlines.
Good communication and customer service skills at all levels (oral and written).
Ability to maintain confidentiality of information, whether written or oral.
Attention to detail and good work presentation in all aspects of associated administration.
Excellent communication skills, with the ability to engage diverse stakeholders and build relationships at all levels across the organisation
