Senior SCADA/PLC Engineer
Our client requires a SCADA/PLC Engineer to provide professional consultancy services on a automated remote telemetry system. The internal team have identified deficiencies in the maintenance structure and approach to SCADA and PLC systems and are keen for the provision of a specialist engineer to assist with developing, amongst other things, a holistic maintenance and fault rectification strategy.
Role & Responsibilities
This requirement is for a dedicated senior SCADA/PLC engineer to provide professional engineering consultancy services.
The Automated Remote Telemetry is a Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA) system comprising of Allen Bradley PLC hardware and Ovarros PRISM SCADA application.
The senior SCADA/PLC Engineer to assist with developing a holistic maintenance and fault rectification strategy.
They will report to the departments Operations Manager on areas that need to be developed or redesigned to provide a maintenance support structure that fits this business-critical system.
The selected engineer will also be asked to review the outstanding issues and advise on remedial actions that are needed to bring the system back up to 100% availability. Finally the selected engineer will be asked to conduct a stand back review of the support function to develop a SWOT Analysis.
The selected engineer requires an in-depth background of PLC works ranging from maintenance, design and project management. They are required to be highly experienced in order to share their knowledge to upskill a high performing team, and use their experience to help develop an upskilling framework.
Skillset Required
The selected senior systems engineer will need a mix of the following skills:
Practical on job PLC experience, including fault rectification and design
An in depth understanding of Allen Bradley SLC500 series PLC’s and associated ladder logic
Experience investigating a complex mix of PLC hardware, PLC programming and Communication (both serial and digital) issues
Experience working on large scale business critical systems
Demonstrable experience of performance and process improvement
A desire to share their knowledge, train and mentor others
It is desirable for the selected Engineer to have previous experience of developing a team of PLC engineers
