Renowned engineering and build consultancy with a longstanding, significant and growing presence in the rail sector requires a Compliance Manager to take the lead in rail compliance and ensure the company's continued RISQS accreditation.
Responsibilities:
Ensure company policies, processes and staff comply with RISQS requirements
Make sure these processes are maintained and made clear to staff to ensure RISQS audits are passed
Manage, assess and improve company's RISQS management and health and safety systems and processes across all activities in the rail business
Ensure company policies, processes and staff comply with ISO45001
Maintain excellent understanding of Rail Management System, Rail Group Standards, LU and Network Rail standards
Make sure Sentinel Scheme Rules are always followed
Ensure all staff with PTS receive pre-employment medical and drugs and alcohol tests and coordinate ongoing random tests
Make sure staff with IWA competency undergo assessments
Advise Rail Manager of any accident / incidents at work
Oversee RISQS induction and issue of relevant documents for new starters
Manage RISQS audit programme, ensuring that system and site audits are carried out so that processes, RAMS, WPP and risk assessments are being followed
Understand the health and safety management system, standards, legislation and regulation, delivering process improvements to comply with ISO45001
Make sure staff are fully trained in company health and safety processes, systems and policies, induct new staff
Ensure PPE register is kept updated and manage the process of distributing PPE
Make sure health and safety equipment is properly maintained and inspected
Review existing process and continuous improvement plans
Fatigue management
Advise company on matters relating to legal, technical and assurance when it comes to rail / RISQS compliance and health and safety
Review RISQS and health and safety standards and ensure any changes are communicated to the entire business
Carry out internal audits to ensure compliance RISWS and health and safety systems
Produce regular reports on compliance matters
Chair RISQS and health and safety working groups
Lead on all matters relating to compliance, ensuring yearly RISQS and ISO4500 audits are passed
Requirements:
Detailed knowledge and experience of RISQS in the rail sector is essential for this role
Confident, engaging independent thinker who shows initiative and is proactive
NEBOSH General Certificate in Occupational Safety and Health
Technical member of IOSH and/or associate member of IIRSM
Thorough knowledge of management systems (ISO9001, ISO14001, ISO45001)
Driving licence
