Rehabilitation Support Workers
AICS Group specialises in providing community-based rehabilitation and support to clients who have acquired brain injury.
AICS Group is looking for a Rehabilitation Support Worker to work with our client who lives in Streatham. This role provides immense job satisfaction, supporting the client towards greater independence whilst being guided by professionals specialising in brain injury rehabilitation.
ABOUT THE ROLE
Team Leader Position
Main Purpose of the Job:
To assist the AICS Group package managers in achieving the aims and objectives of
the clients support and rehabilitation needs.
Support and manage the staff team to enable them to meet the needs of the client.
To undertake direct work with the client as appropriate and ensure each shift is
planned and resources allocated.
Work in partnership with the AICS Group, Case manager and treating therapy team to achieve optimum outcomes for the client.
To offer support to staff in line with CQC Standards and as directed by the AICS
Group package manager.
Duties & Responsibilities
To meet the needs of the client through:
Ensuring that each member of staff is aware of the client’s support, care and
rehabilitation plan.
Ensure that the support worker is aware of the support objectives, and their
responsibilities for the implementation of these plans.
Attending team meetings to provide information and achieve best outcomes for the
client.
Undertaking direct work with the client and acting as an appropriate member of the
team.
Complete monthly compliancy check and audits on medication, equipment, stock
supplies
Maintaining and monitoring that accurate written records are completed by the
support team.
Carrying out new staff induction.
Complete competency checks on new support worker to ensure they are competent in completing task with the client.
General Responsibilities:
To work on a rota basis according to the needs of the client.
To be readily available to cover a minimum of two emergency shifts on a 4 weekly
basis.
To ensure that resources are allocated appropriately and financial records are
accurately maintained under the direction of the AICS Group
case coordinator.
To receive supervision in line with CQC Standards and to take responsibility for
personal development and progress of individual training needs.
To carry out all other reasonable tasks as directed by the client and The AICS Group
case coordinator.
Being able to take it on board constructive feedback and easily to adapt to
new changes put in place.
The ideal candidate will be able to effectively support the client with his physical, speech and cognitive rehabilitation, with emphasis on helping the client to become increasingly more independent in activities of daily living. The role would include but not be restricted to:
– supporting the client with activities of daily living – planning, organising, executing tasks
– supporting the client with his speech and physiotherapy programme
– supporting the client in exercises and activities enhancing his cognitive functioning
– supporting the client with community integration
– supporting the client’s engagement and motivation in his rehabilitation programme
Support hours: Monday to Sunday 24/7 support
Shift patterns available:
* 24-hour shifts (Day shifts 09:00 – 23:00, Sleep-in Night shifts 23:00 – 09:00)
* 12-hour shifts (Day shifts 09:00 – 21:00)
* 12-hour shifts (Evening support 21:00 – 23:00, Sleep-in support 23:00 – 09:00)
PERSON SPECIFICATION
Essential Skills:
* A minimum of 1 year experience in health and social care
* Experience and understanding of community brain injury rehabilitation work
* Excellent verbal and written communication skills
* Attention to detail
* Ability to follow instructions and implement therapy guidelines
* Willingness to learn and ability to take on constructive feedback
* Excellent time management skills
* Ability to liaise with healthcare professionals
* Good IT skills
Desirable Skills:
* Driving
* Undergraduate / Postgraduate Degree in Psychology, Neuroscience or related fields
