This Senior Commercial Manager career opportunity exists with a leading international food business, which has a global presence, producing branded and private label products, and supplying all major retailers and sectors in the UK.

A major player in its categories, this organisation has experienced steep, rapid growth, which has been driven by the success of its premium brands as well as its private label activities.
About the role
Reporting to the Sales Director, hands-on management and growth of one or a portfolio of retail accounts across multi categories nurturing, developing, and promoting both branded and own-label sales.
Main Tasks and Responsibilities
Professional management of a portfolio of customer accounts to meet and exceed budgeted volume and value sales.
Representing the UK and wider Group’s portfolio of products across categories.
Formulate account strategies and plans to secure Company targets.
To develop joint business plans with efficient and effective investment to support growth. Drive negotiations for new listings, price, promotions, and distribution, to manage the promotional budget.
Development of exceptional multi-level customer relationships across all departments. Be the account champion.
To proactively seek out new business opportunities and growth across branded and private-label product development.
To interrogate ongoing monthly performance, and deliver clear insight and action to influence forward performance.
Ensure accurate internal communication to the supply team regarding promotions/ changes to distribution… and keep up-to-date customer files.
Cross-functional working with UK departments and develop very good product knowledge.

2. A capacity to build a plan mixing the knowledge of the customer and the understanding of the qualities/resources available.
3. A strength in negotiation – being ready for stand-offs if necessary.
4. A liking for numbers, making them talk to the benefit of the company and its plans.
An entrepreneur capable of developing the accounts as if they were his/her own business. Be tenacious. Work to challenging deadlines and in a changing environment. Capable of proposing solutions. Positive, fast and using simple straightforward communication internally.
Background & Skills
Minimum of 5 years UK national account sales experience, including experience in management and growth of retail accounts. Top 4 major multiple account management experience would be ideal.
Ideally with knowledge of chilled supply chain and product development. Will consider broader entrepreneurial business owners with a proven track record of success.
Entrepreneurial self-starter who can set their own targets and efficiently organise work schedule.
Proven track record of meeting targets and objectives within existing accounts and developing new business.
Strong financial/commercial understanding together with intellect and curiosity to interpret performance and recommend action.
Ability to build and sustain excellent relationships at all levels (internal and external).
Comfortable managing large accounts with the ability to develop strong and robust commercial relationships.
Enthusiasm to chase new business and foresight to monitor upcoming tenders.
Excellent communication skills both written and oral.
