You will join Orbit at an exciting time. We have just agreed our new Thriving Communities Strategy that will see £12m invested in our Better Days programme between now and 2026.
You will also join us at an important time, with our customers and society facing significant financial and wellbeing pressures. Our new strategy will focus on the support we can give to individuals to help them fulfil their potential and also the work we can do in local communities to create thriving places to live.
The aim of the team is to work with customers to use the investment we have to create the maximum social value we can to support environmental, economic and social wellbeing.
We work very closely with third sector partners, local authorities and government to co-design initiatives, provide grants for projects and help shape policies to improve the lives of our customers.
Your role at Orbit.
In this exciting new opportunity of Community Hubs Lead you will be working to improve social inclusion by developing and growing our community hub portfolio into "Better Days" Hubs. Our Better Days Hubs vision is for spaces that meet the needs of our customers and their communities whilst providing access to services within their locality.
Your key responsibilities will be to:
Lead on the development and implementation of a plan to create a network of community hubs across Orbit's geography
Develop and manage our existing portfolio of Better Days Hubs
Ensure our Hubs are well managed, accessible and offer a range of support services.
Develop plans to enable the Hubs to become financially sustainable
Manage budgets across the portfolio of Hubs
Work with the Placemaking Team to enable our customers to design and shape services and activities delivered from the Hubs
Broker partnerships with external providers and/or commissioning activity to help deliver services that meet the community needs
Lead on the technical aspects of running community buildings including hiring agreements
Lead on asset compliance including health and safety, security, repairs, maintenance, accessibility etc
Work with communications to ensure the Hubs are promoted locally
Product reports and data on the performance and impact of our Community Asset work
What will help you make a difference.
To be successful in this role of Community Hubs Lead you will need to have demonstrable experience working with local communities to create community venues and facilities. You will also need the ability to build effective networks and partnerships that lead to revenue generation/ funding and increased outcomes for customers.
It is also essential that you have:
Experience of service development within a community
Experience of leading a team and working across organisations to develop delivery plans
Ability to communicate effectively to a range of internal and external audiences
Excellent project and contract management skills
Knowledge and understanding of relevant government strategy, policies and trends
Established track record of delivering results and continuous improvement
Ability to write and present reports
