Drax is now recruiting for a Senior Trading Analyst to lead a team of up to 5 amazing Trading Analysts
As a Senior Trading Analyst within the Trading Analysis team and part of Trading & Optimisation, you’ll be supporting and driving trading strategy decisions across the UK power market.
You’ll be leading the delivery of fundamental market analysis, assumptions, forecasts, and a variety of analytical activities focused on power markets, utilising linear optimisation modelling tools.
Your work will support the activities of the Trading & Optimisation team within liquid traded markets, supporting daily trading strategy decisions from within-day out to up to 5 years.
You will provide key fundamental market analysis and assumptions (inputs, analysis, and model outputs) on all factors related to analysis of power markets. This includes but is not limited to; gas, power, carbon, coal, new fuels, interconnectors, thermal and non-thermal generation, renewable generation, demand reduction, TSO requirements, generation mix and potential regulatory or government policy development
As well as being able to manage a team where you will lead in prioritising, structuring and managing the workload of the trading analyst team you will also be expected to deliver the single Drax UK Power market outlook through the team which includes:
Development, analysis, delivery, presentation, and implementation of the single Drax UK power market outlook which is the single set of fundamental assumptions and forecasts to be used across Group
The ability to present statistic information is essential as you will have regular interface with senior internal stakeholders, leading on delivery of assessments of trends and technologies to support development of longer-term Group strategy.
You’ll lead the development of in-house modelling (including application of the appropriate tools, techniques, modelling and data management approaches) to ensure provision of timely and appropriate analysis to support a wide range of activities including new opportunities, interfaces, investment decisions and strategy development within Business Units, the Strategy/M&A team and across the wider Group.
Ensuring that output of analysis (including delivery of recommendations) is presented and communicated appropriately (both directly and through team members) to appropriate stakeholders including ExCom, Business Unit Leadership teams/Boards, Heads of Finance, and other relevant Committees
