*There are plans for the holder of this role to secure a Director level position within 3 years*

Global organisation operating across 90 countries is seeking to secure a Head of Software Development. The role would also align to someone who has held the position of – Head of Application Delivery – applicants must have a solid understanding of the Software Development Lifecycle.

Role:

The Head of Software Development will lead theApplication Development/Delivery function – oversee and own the build, configuration & maintenance of all global core business applications.
Ensure critical core applications continue to meet the organisations requirements.
Ensure application development is managed through change & delivered on time and to budget.
Will direct & manage internal & external Application Build Teams.
Provide direction, guidance & oversight via the Product Development Managers.
Oversee Application development through the SDLC from build, Unit test & deploy.
Drive the Software Development Life Cycle management (SDLC) for each application.
Lead Continuous Improvement of the Dev-Ops function.
Partner with both Business & Technology groups.
Ensure core applications align with the organisation’s strategy, mission & vision.
Ensure that Product Roadmaps are in place to guide the delivery of change across the applications portfolio.
Manage application change through the Agile processes.
Responsible for Applications Delivery teams covering – resource management, resource planning, workload planning, recruitment & retention, staff development, quality & workload planning.
Contribute to maturing of both the applications & overall IT community.
Engage with senior level stakeholders globally.

Skills / Experience Required:

Leading Software / Application Development teams (role will have x7 direct reports – total team of x25 onshore & x10 3rd party offshore staff).
Excellent Stakeholder engagement skills & experience – ability to negotiate, influence and challenge when required.
Management of SDLC & solutions – ideally across a broad range of technologies such as – HTML5, CSS, React or AngularJS, MS SQL, SharePoint, C# (EF6/MVC).
Experience / knowledge of Configuration Management & Change Management.
Solid understanding of Development & QA processes.
Software Design Patterns & OO principles – have an understanding.
Web Services, SOA, APIs & Micro Services – have an understanding.
Application Lifecycle Management – TDD & Continuous Integration – have an understanding.
Managing priorities & workload.
Work closely with technical & non-technical stakeholders & staff.
Translate & negotiate non-technical requirements into a detailed technical specification.
Excellent leadership skills – inspire & motivate teams.
Excellent People & Team Management experience – strong coaching skills.
Collaborative approach to teamwork – lead by example.
Ability to operate successfully in a ‘matrix’ organisation – mobilise individuals/teams outside of your reporting line.
Culturally Aware – ideally have experience of delivering solutions internationally.
Excellent interpersonal, verbal & written communication skills – ability to communicate plans, ideas, projects, solutions to non-technical stakeholders/staff.
Diligent & proactive approach.
Able to operate in a fast-paced environment.

Desirable:

ERP Solutions (UNIT4 Agresso preferred) experience
