We are a registered charity providing real work experience, on-the-job training and employment opportunities for people excluded from ordinary working life because of mental health problems and other disabilities or disadvantages.
We have delivered work experience and other opportunities for people (the workforce) across London for many years. We now wish to develop this work through a more formalised training and employment support programme (SMaRT Pathways) that includes making learning more accessible to people irrespective of their levels of literacy and numeracy and other disadvantages in education, training and learning. This includes using assistive tech e.g. text readers, video, VR and other mediums, particularly, but not exclusively, in the areas of the automotive and catering trades.
The Regional Training & Employment Development Co-ordinator’s (RTEDC) team will include a Basic Skills Trainer and Employment Development Worker.
SMaRT Pathways will provide training and support to the workforce to enable each person to improve their “employability” through work placements or other opportunities, e.g. education and training leading to diploma or other qualifications. Each workforce member has their own Personal Development Plan (PDP) and Training Plan.
Access to on the job skills such as motor vehicle servicing and repairs, reception, customer service, finance and bookkeeping, food preparation and cooking, front of house, administration, marketing and promotions and training are provided at our projects as part of the daily routine.
